Does anyone else notice there is no "batting eye" type of rating for hitters? How the heck will the computer know who should walk more and who should walk less?

That is odd.
Especially because they have a column marked PITCHBB(instead of just BB....meaning it looks like they want to differentiate.)
Maybe it was just left off somehow?

Wouldn't the "Hitting:Out By SO" rating cover that? That would be my guess anyway.

Not necessarily. I think that would just determine the rate at which a player strikes out (but not necessarily walk).
I'm hoping the BB rate is a hidden rating that is tied into the Inside Edge data. In the dev diary they said that Inside Edge drives pitcher AI. Hopefully Inside Edge determines aggression or batter's swing tendancies as well.

I don't know, that seems like a dangerous way of handling plate presence. Plus if it drives walks, why not strikeouts. Just seems like a reach, IMO.
There are guys who build there offensive game around their plate discipline (Bobby Abreu, Youkilis, etc). To not have it tied to any adjustable rating would be a mistake, IMO. I mean, in theory, you could tie everything to Inside Edge.
That's not to say it's tied to the one I said either...lol. I honestly don't know. I agree that ordinarily, that rating would be tied solely to strikeouts. I was just saying that maybe they tied it to the one rating (also not favorable) as I've seen it done before and didn't see anything else that made sense.
It seems they pared down their ratings, some of which I would have liked to see built upon. Oh well, I guess we'll find out how they did it soon enough.
Yes Steve that would be awesome to post the minor leagues ratings, maybe we can get a idea of who is in the minors and start creating name changes for the,?

Yeah that would give us a massive head start on everything, AAA is the most necessary for sure. Also, do you know if there is going to be a roster update on March 3rd? Say like Howard's new deal included, and Abreu and Dunn signings?
