With the release of the PC version of NBA 2K9, there are a few things for fans to consider before hopping on the bandwagon and purchasing the game (despite it's ultra-low $20 price of admission). Check out Alexander's Senate's take on the dilemma facing PC NBA 2K9 fans.

"The PC version of NBA 2K9 was released yesterday for the low price of $19.99, and is essentially a port of the Xbox 360 version (which is great), but it is being released without any online functionality (which is not as great)."

yes...out of all the ish that comes out of the consoles im more looking forward to all the lineups for the PC this year

i already have Far Cry 2 and Dead Space loaded up and im trying to find the time to play both

soon its going to be Fallout 3...sheesh

and over the horizon..Diablo 3, Starcraft II, Dawn of War II, Total War: empire, and im thinking of gettin GTA: IV for the PC as well...i hear that theres a huge mod community for that...oh and Left4Dead (i will be gettin both versions)

i still play the classics like Sim City 4, Company of Heroes and the occasional Counter Strike or Day of Defeat source...oh and my all time fave Battlefield 2

i dont know how you console jockeys can use a controller for aiming when a mouse and keyboard is far more superior...i agree about using a keyboard for a sports title...lol

Funny to me how everyone is going crazy about how much the 2K online component sucks, yet people are bitching it's not in the PC version. Sounds to me like we aren't missing anything. And this guy makes the point that no online makes the game less appealing to him, well my opinion is the exact opposite because I couldn't care less about online play in sports games. Most people you play online are immature idiots anyway so I know I'm not missing anything.

And the modding community will make NBA 2K9 infinitely better than it already is, which alone makes up for no online options. And I would be willing to bet someone will figure out a way to enable direct IP play on the PC version. If someone could make Grand Theft Auto San Andreas have an online component on the PC, someone can figure out how to play this game online.

And the whole controller argument is once again a case in point as to how so many people are ignorant of PC Gaming. Everyone thinks you just have to use a keyboard for every game, and not enough people play a vast amount of PC games to own a controller in the first place. Or, oh my God, if you own a 360 you just have to go out and spend 19.99 on a wireless device. And then you can use that controller on countless other PC games, not just this one.

It's always comical to read a discussion about PC Games on the internet. Doesn't take long for people's ignorance to flow.

And yes, Long Live the PC indeed. Consoles are nice for a kids toy, but it's just so....limited. I'll take the most versatile platform by a long shot, thank you very much. And before the "lol have fun playing games at your desk on your small monitor lol" comments start to fly, I play my PC on my 46" 1080p HDTV, in my living room, from my couch. And let me tell you NBA 2K9 at 1920 x 1080 resolution on my PC looks pretty freaking great. But you can't convince people of this stuff online, they'll just continue to hug their Xbox 360's and PS3's because their devices which require no thought. Just buy the game, and put it in the drive. Ignorance is bliss, or so I've heard.
