We should be just a couple of weeks away from the release of the newest version of the College Hoops 2Kx series. Instead, a business decision has rendered gamers with just a single choice of a college basketball title. Today, Alexander Senate laments and asks, Where Art Thou College Hoops 2K9.

"In Memoriam

I am going to miss College Hoops 2K9 this year. I'm lamenting the fact that there is going to be another quality 2K college basketball sim for 2009. When I heard that 2K was not able to reach a licensing agreement with the Collegiate Licensing Company, I had to accept the fact that this was the end of an era -- at least for now."

Agree 100%.

The high turnover of players, 200+ teams and the 1 and done factor, keeps the game fresh. I still pop in older versions and still play those career legacy modes.

In all the versions of this game, I have won 2 national titles combined. I have played over 30 seasons and have played about 98% of the games. The 2% that werent played were because of bugs.

Ive had teams where I would get a number 1 seed, only to loose in the second round of the tourney.

There are times when I have felt that I have the game figured out, only to lose 5 games in a row.

In addition this game, always throws in new surprises.

case in point; in a recent game an opposing team was down two with less than 10 seconds two go. the pg puts up a jumper, misses the shot the ball is going out of bounds only to have the center dive out of bounds, throw the ball to the Pf who misses a lay up at the buzzer.
(even the mrs, who is occasionally around when I pop on the game was impressed with that sequence of events)

This is also one of the few games where if you blow out an opponent, it feels like a reward.

IMO, this is by far the best sports series ever!!!!!!

You mean March Crapness?

I agree, totally. Especially now that EA has no competition in the college hoops genre.

I'll download the new roster for 2K8, whenever it's finished, and get my Choops fix that way.

**** EA, and **** March Crapness. NCAA Football 2009 sucked and March Crapness will suck.

The 2K college hoops series was the only reason I got back into console gaming after years on the PC. I will spend my winter playing many hours of 2K8 for sure.

I feel your pain.

College Hoops 2k8 was probably one of the best sports games I have ever played.

CH 2k8 is still the best sports game of this generation. If its dethroned it will be with NBA 2k9 stealing one of its best features. The file share.

Every game should start supporting some sort of file sharing system.

EA is monopolizing sports gaming it sucks. CH 2k8 was one of the greatest sports games i've ever played (other than NFL 2k5) so i don't think im ever going to buy another EA product cause their games aren't that good to begin with, especially their basketball games. I miss CH 2k8 and NFL 2k
