Fans will receive the most up-to-date player
attributes, player tendencies, and unlockable animations

September 22, 2008 – 2K Sports today announced details on Living Rosters, an exciting new innovative online feature for this season’s highly anticipated basketball title, NBA 2K9. Living Rosters will ensure dedicated fans are playing with the most up-to-date and complete basketball experience ever available in the NBA 2K franchise. In addition to delivering constant updates to player ratings and player tendencies, Living Rosters will also offer exclusive access to unlockable animation packages for players in the game. When a player starts to heat up and takes his game to the next level on the real courts, new animation packages will unlock for that player in the video game. As the NBA season progresses, so will NBA 2K9, as players will have the ability to pull off new moves never seen before in the video game, adapt their offensive and defensive rotations, and shift starting lineups as they occur. If it happens during the regular NBA season, it will happen in NBA 2K9 thanks to Living Rosters.

When the Living Rosters feature is activated and a gamer signs in online, the game automatically checks for Living Roster updates in order to download the latest real-life player information in a seamless process behind the scenes. Gamers will have an option to either have Living Rosters automatically update their in-game roster information, or they can choose to download new roster data manually.

Once Living Rosters has successfully completed an update, NBA 2K9 fans can then review the different player and gameplay updates from the NBA 2K Insider – a real person working behind the scenes, pouring over the stats and spreadsheets, and who is ultimately responsible for the content and accuracy of the Living Rosters updates. However, the Insider’s job is much more than just crunching numbers - they will interact with the community and listen to roster update suggestions to determine what the fans really want in each update. The NBA 2K Insider’s analysis and commentary will be available in-game and on the 2K Sports website, www.2ksports.com.

NBA 2K9 is the latest edition of NBA 2K, the series that has been the #1 rated NBA simulation for seven years in a row* and is back for its 10th season. NBA 2K9 is the premier basketball game for serious players, and will deliver the most realistic and feature-rich simulation experience ever available in the NBA 2K franchise – from gameplay and graphics to presentation and online features. NBA 2K9 is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB and will be available on October 7 for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and PLAYSTATION®3 and PlayStation®2 computer entertainment systems. God bless competition.

From reading some posts in this forum, that's not the concensus although you think it would be.

Steve doesn't post demos.

2K sends demos to Sony and Microsoft which then need approved before being posted on Xbox Live and Playstation Network.

And if last season as well as the developer's comments are any indication, we should be getting that when XBL and PSN update on Thursday. The devs said "before the end of next week" last week, and XBL updates on Thursdays. So check Wednesday night at midnight and it might be there..

XBL puts up demos on both Tuesday morning at 5 EST and Thursday morning at 5 EST

When the demo drops can someone PM it (the full demo) to me please? Thanks

# 27 Stumbleweed @ 09/22/08 05:13 PM
LOL..

Yeah, I checked the marketplace ticker and the last several demos have come out on 9/11 and 9/18, which are both Thursdays, so that's what I'm assuming it will be again. But yeah, seemed like XBL moved from Tuesdays primarily to Thursdays recently, because I always remembered waiting around on Monday night late looking for demos.

That would be SICK is it came out tonight, but since PSN updates on Thursdays, I'd imagine they would want to give the demos out at the same time. Either way, Iat least it's this week finally!

I know the 2K Insider is going to get bombarded with complaints and request, man I already feel sorry for him and the rest of the crew. LOL I hope 2K stays consistent with these updates throughout the season.

I think that's just poor wording on 2K's part. "Unlockable" implies that they (animations) are already on the disc. They should clear that up.

Well, I'm sure some of them are pre-existing on the disc -- like a guy who people didn't expect to dunk but does a lot during the season would get a slightly more aggressive/flashy dunk package that's already assigned to other players (since there aren't enough to go around). If someone has an actual signature animation that needs to get added, that will probably be a new one that was and updated into the game.

Just so you know... no one stole anything. the Live team had the Live365 idea scoped and planned out before I got here and 2k was planning on the living rosters idea before I left. There just happens to be a lot of parallel thinking between the teams.

although, when I was at 2k we were sure we had a mole working for EA. Funny thing is now that I'm at EA, we think the same thing here. lol.

Sounds Great to Me. Can't wait to have players that are underrated get their ratings up in good time. Saves me spending hours fixing my rosters ir downloading someones else. But also with 2k share this is going to be great!

In my opinion there is not enough stealing going on. I wish companies would take their egos out of the equation and steal whatever they need to steal to make their game better.
