The purpose of a demo is to preview the game NOT to get feedback from the public. Most games are gold and ready for shipping before the demo drops.
Ah I see. I remember back in the day, I would get PC demos and they would encourage feedback for fixes; via an email addy or low-budget website. Demos were more of a litmus test than anything else. Oh well, it is what it is I guess. =)
And I'm glad I listen to music while playing b/c the commentary... wow
Nah it doesn't bother me. I just don't get that irritated. I've never turned the commentary off in a game. Not even Madden's horrible radio guy, just doesn't bother me.
As far as the Kobe line is concerned what can they do about that. That situation was true when the game was produced. There's absolutely nothing they can do about that. The question is should that have been added to the game? I think they just write bad scripts.
I also think they should name the players more instead of saying he alot, but I guess it just makes the commentary flow better instead of plugging in the name and then adding the line afterwards.
I don't post a lot, but i read a lot. I don't care if it's viral marketing, fanboys or whatever, but putting Live and 2K in the same sentence is a disrespect to the game of basketball.
I've played the Live demo and i felt completely lost by what peole were saying. Means to me that most people don't know jack about basketball. For god's sake, they have a highlight button!
Gameplay is where is at, and judging by the video, lots of bugs that plagued 2K8 were toned down, and the only letdown i saw were the playcalling and the unrealistic replays.
Is it so hard for developers to put the replays on dead balls, like in real life? Have they never watched a broadcast?
I hope they can patch those minor glitches. The ultimate test is seeing how much the game can be exploited online. That's the real deal.
That's one of my main gripes with what I saw. I was hyped when I saw the On the Spot video where those replays weren't present, then with these new videos, they pop up immediately after the play.
I don't see why people are complaining about the last couple seconds of the game where Pierce takes long for the play to progress. Do you think thats gonna happen every time? No, the guy got caught up in a screen. It's not gonna happen EVERY TIME.
It doesn't happen EVERY TIME in 2k8 either but it's still a problem. Games don't freeze up EVERY TIME you play them either, but that's also still a problem. The "it doesn't happen every time" is just a cop out. Fact is, that when a player gets caught up like that, they should be trying even harder to get to their spot to get the play going.

That's only half the point, even when he doesn't get stuck and walk, he goes through the motion way too slowly. They need to get players to bust it off screens and catch the ball aggressively, squaring up into a triple threat position. I've said it a bunch, but it looks like they're going through a play in a pre-game walk through.
I can't stand how passes go straight through defenders. There are dozens of unrealistic passing angles in the short video footage I've seen. In Live 09 you really have to have a clear path to your receiver, not so in 2k9. Very disappointing.
I also don't like how dribblers don't have to protect the ball when standing at the top of the key. It's so unrealistic when you see a PG standing there, not protecting his dribble while the defender is 2 feet away and still can't steal the ball. It seems that 2K is leaving a LOT to the imagination because what you see is not what you get.
Based on this video and the Suns/Nuggets video, I'm probably not getting the game. Nice play by Pierce at the end, watch me casually walk to my spot on the play. The whole 2 gameplay vids were not good at all, honestly. The commentary is still filled with annoying one liners. Just ugh. Arena and the crowd looks nice though.

Just another one that says this before the game comes out. They always end up buying the game in the end. Gameplay movies never do ANY game justice in sports. I rember seeing the first gameplay vid of 2k8 and I was sort of iffy about it, but look how the game turned out. Just a piece of advice, reserve your final decision til after you play the demo. And to the guy above about in Live 09 having to clear a path to pass is BS. I encounter passes going through people all the time in live. Overall 2k9 imo is looking great. With a the new presentation (- commentary), they are looking great this year. Other reasons the game will be great:
Off ball Movement
Graphics
Signature animations
animations in general
5 vs 5 online
Living rosters
updated CAP mode
able to tug on jerseys off ball
2K9's gameplay still looks so much smoother than Live 09.
After playing the Live demo, it feels like you're lacking a certain amount of control of the player. The player doesn't respond immediately to what you've controlled him to do. Although they've made strides with their game, Live still plays really choppy and is unrealistic.
