Madden 09 News Post

Feel free to discuss the patch here. According to EA's Phil Frazier, this is what the patch addressed.

Quote:
  • Changed default quarter length of online leagues to 5 minutes.
  • Solved a very rare stability issue that occured when using a couple of playbooks.
  • Eliminated a button mashing glitch during high latency online games.
  • Eliminated a stability issue that sometimes occured while viewing the player HUB in online leagues.
  • Fixed a tricky disc eject glitch that occured at specific points of online games.
  • Kick Return Tuning - made improvements to help reduce frequent long kick returns.
  • Safety Tuning - eliminated issue where safeties in deep zone coverage would sometimes not react to a run to their side.
  • The game skill slider for interceptions was tuned to amplify it's affect.

Until they fix the freeze issue I'm not turning the game one. I'm sick of starting a game only to have it freeze up after just a play or two....on my second copy so it is the game.

Sad that isn't in the first patch. Even sadder they allowed this game to be released with a game killer bug. I don't play online so I could care less about online fixes. I want freeze fixes.

I am not sure what "robo" qb is, but if it refers to the high completion % of the cpu, then they need to fix that. I just played the Bills and Edwards went 15-17!

I dont know what they actually fixed in patch, before patch i was having the most fun with madden in years, getting beat and being happy. I run a Falcons Franchise, 1st 3 games pre-patch: 27-24 loss to lions, 28-7 loss to Bucs, and a 24-14 win over chiefs. All realistic and only a few gameplay problems, but nothing major. Good number of sacks, not too many INT, great gameflow, absolutely awesome. Now, today i play first game after patch, against Panthers. I am winning 13-10 at half, so far so good, then I INT Delhomme---5 TIMES!!!!!!! 3 PICK 6'S!!!!, FINAL SCORE 34-10. I hope this was a fluke, I hope they did not screw up game more, I was so loving this game along with Headcoach.

Nice to see them get a patch out earlier, wish it had more meaningful stuff in it though. I dont play online at all, so not a big deal here, but wouldve been cool to get a few major things in here (field degradation, robo QB, running out of bounds etc) instead of keeping it all for patch 2.........but beggars cant be choosers, and its nice to see EA put out a patch that at least will help those who play online.

sad thing is they probably worked on this patch long before knowing people would be pissed about the real problems......and this gives them an excuse to wait while they try to figure out how to iron out the big issues.

What's up with the interceptions? I just intercepted Jason Campbell 7 times in one game. I threw about 4 myself with Tony Romo.

To all those getting to many INTs, go back to the first post in this thread and look at the last thing the patch addressed. Drop the INT slider down 0-10 and have fun

I've played 4 games since the patch and there has been no penalties called. Before the patch they were being called regularly, I was even getting facemask penalties in games which I don't think i've ever seen in Madden. Anyone else having this problem?

Kick returns still seem way to easy and now im getting way to many Interceptions! should of left that part alone...

Yea we need a user camera. it's a shame to have graphics so good but be stuck with no real way to adjust the camera during gameplay.

Do you have all of the penalty sliders maxed out?

Definitely, or keep the INT slider at zero is another option.

I've been reading that people don't get penalties, but I've been getting penalties at least 4-5 times a game on 6 minute quarters. Maybe it's random or something.

# 38 Mos1ted @ 08/16/08 09:38 PM
I have penalties maxed out and I'm not getting ANY called except for like roughing the passer and pass interference which was at my own doing - user controlled penalties. No holding, facemask or anything.

# 39 Vikes1 @ 08/17/08 12:37 AM
How do you find the INT slider?

Thanks.

# 40 roadman @ 08/17/08 12:42 AM
Press A on the Pass Defense Slider.
