Madden 09 News Post

Shawn Drotar over at 5W-G has posted a article called What does the "Madden" demo... demonstrate?.

Quote:
"Odder still is the fact that there’s no menu that will show you the game’s controls, which are complex. After playing EA’s other football title for this season, NCAA Football 09, I’m used to throwing away a pass with the right bumper. In Madden NFL 09, that button doesn’t do the same thing - and there’s no place for me to look and see which button would."

Well it doesn't show much to be honest. I think EA should of let you choose the side maybe instead. And you could only do one or the other. Even then it would be much better. O well it's almost the 12th and I just like what I'm hearing so far.

what this demo says is that the casual gamer need not apply - Madden NFL 09 is a game for the Madden veteran only
Which is funny because that whole Madden IQ thing is supposed to be there to help people who ARE casual gamers and don't know football to figure this game out.

I don't know if I entirely agree, but then again, I have played Madden and 2k for years now. If I were completely new to the game and played this demo, I don't know...I might be somewhat overwhelmed by it.

Thats a great idea Faytes.

That would have been better....no question.

Wouldve been nice to get more gameplay (offense and defense) but at least we got a demo

Yea, It's a enjoyable demo but I want to play some defense. It's my passion.

I don't like the demo at all.

1. It has no commentary (a touted new feature)

2. It doesn't show weather conditions (a reworked new feature)

3. You can't play any defense whatsoever

It's basically a 1 possession demo.

The Madden IQ/Tron/Hologram stuff is meaningless to me - I'm not even bothering with it. I skip it every time I try the demo.

I like the full-game videos on the internet much better.

Man you are negative. Do you always see the glass as half empty. I understand that EA has been bad in the past but look at it this year. It looks like a much better game over previous years (yes not saying much) but give them credit they're not going to take it easy when it's their 20th anniversary edition.

I didn't say I don't like the game - I said I don't like the demo.

I pre-ordered the game and am looking forward to playing it, with all it's features.

I just find the demo to be bland and empty.

Maybe I'm confusing someone else with you then. I thought I saw a bunch of negative posts about other stuff and you were posting it. If I did that then I am sorry.

Great article as always.

The demo doesn't allow for someone who is trying to get into football games... well, get into football games. It just makes the game seem even more daunting by throwing the player into the Lion's Den.

Hmm - it might have been me.

But I'm not negative - I'm just very critical. But it sounds negative sometimes.

If I was negative, I would be like:

"F this, F that. You suck. bleep bleep bleep

EA sucks, I hate Madden. Collinsworth was a lousy reciever. Etc..."

The mods would be banning/suspending me and all the fake accounts I would follow up with just to keep annoying everyone lol.

Actually, I'm a nice guy. Just misunderstood.

agreed

If you're trying to hook new people into a football videogame, you shouldn't hit them with some freaky, sci-fi looking Holo-deck thing from Star Trek.

You should just get them on the field and show off the game and visuals and sounds.

The thought process was probably, hey we will use this new feature called Madden IQ and show them that even though they are new to football that you can get into the game because we tailor the game to your strengths and weaknesses. What the demo needed was a control layout and 3 timeouts.
