Operation Sports writer and MaddenMania admin Bryan Clark checks in today with an opinion piece about the "Ask Corso" feature in NCAA Football. Check out his article, It Is Time to Relieve Corso of His Playcalling Duties.

Quote:
"It’s high time we hand Corso his walking papers, at least when it comes to the play calling aspect. Since the feature was only marginally useful in the first place, it’s time to replace the feature with something relatively similar that can use the same basic programming, but at the same add a new level of depth. It’s time to add offensive and defensive coordinators."

O and D coordinators is a good idea, but it's not like a hundred other people haven't already suggested it.
You are exactly right. It uses the same logic as a CPU team.

And to the last point in the original post about spending recording time on other lines instead of Ask Corso, we haven't recorded new AC commentary in years.

I use Ask Corso to call my plays. And so a small feature (that now that I think about it hasn't been announced) that we added this year was HUGE for me.

Sorry if it was announced... but it might be new to some people! You can now turn off Ask Corso audio!

well they tried to replace "Ask Corso" with "Ask Petrino" but Petrino kept disappearing midway thru the game.

don't think it has been announced, or at least i haven't heard it yet. i use ask corso feature sometimes too, and i always hated the audio of it because it blended in with the normal commentary and got annoying. so being able to turn the audio off is good for when/if i use it in '09.

Do you know why they never put any QB Draws on there from the 5 Wide formation?
Ohio State had one in the Demo.

Thanks for the reply, man.

Regarding the last line point, I was 100% completely attempting tongue-in-cheekness with that one. It's pretty obvious there's no new audio in Ask Corso, ever. That feature is real, real stale.

thanks for the announcement that you can turn ask corso audio off... That's great news!

I feel I've failed immensely in that I didn't write the article well enough, or clearly enough, to actually get an EA guy who presumedly read the thing to comment on the "new feature idea..." That's really what the article was all about. The Corso stuff was just fluff.

Guess that's what happens when you suck at writing. lol.

Does Corso change those 16 plays for every game,or is he calling the same ones all the time?

You know, there IS a reason he is a commentator now and no longer a head coach..........kind of like having Isiah Thomas as an option to advise you on moves to make in your dynasty mode while playing NBA 2k! Ok, ok, maybe not THAT bad, but you get the picture.......

Nah I wouldn't say that. I saw the idea as the main reason for the article, and I love the idea.
