Looks like they've done a bit of revamping as they said. Nice.

unlike many, i really liked 2008, despite its lack of innovation....glad to see they're moving forward though. Sadly, my number 1 gripe with this game on 360 is playing with the analog stick instead of the dpad (b/c the d-pad is so terrible)

Why would you use the d-pad in a soccer game? That isn't even an option in FIFA.

Most people who play PES probably use the D-Pad because the game doesn't have true 3-D movement, but allows only an 8 way run. It is just a lot easier to control the players using the D-Pad in this case.

For me it's hard to control the speed if the player's movement with the d-pad. I guess it's whatever you're more comfortable with.

Well, the models look a bit better. At least its not just a high-rez PS2/Xbox game anymore.

I used the D-Pad back when i had it on PS2, so I guess i'm just used to that. I've adjusted to the analog pretty well though.

Looks pretty good. Hopefully the rotated radar is an option though, because that's ********.

If there isn't the same level of customization that is in the old gen version i won't get the ps3 version.

and please, i really hope they do indeed put champions league as a game mode, because master league is crap.

I've been told that the full customization is back in the game and that the game play will be similar to WE 8 and 9. I got the info from a guy in Europe that manages a FIFA and PES site. He was also at EAC last week for the FIFA Community Day. The European sites always seem to get their info first.

I've also been told that they have the Champions League license but, it will not be in the game this year. With regards to the Spanish League they have the rights to license the players, teams, and crests, but they do NOT have the rights to use the name La Liga.

Ok, a quick update from a contact I made at the EAC Community Day regarding PES. I forwarded him an email with a few questions and here is what he said:

Sure I can help you with the pro evo stuff.

A fully functional edit mode is back in. Almost as good as the PS2 mode but also has the MP3 import feature for chants etc. There is a possibility that exchanging option files may be impossible due to the new Sony PS3 firmware but I'm sure there is a way around it.

They do not have the la liga license but have all the licenses of the individual clubs and players at each club etc, so they will all be in the game but the league will have a different name and logo.

Good news about the Spanish Teams. They can call the league NAMBLA for all I care as long as it has the teams and players.

If the edit mode is close to as good as the ps2 edit mode and if it is feasible to get option files I'll be a day one purchase. What worries me is that, as an Xbox 360 owner, I'm going to be out of luck. If the you can trade option files on PS3 and not 360 I may be inclined to buy a ps3. All this is assuming they've fixed some of the gameplay and online issues.

This is my concern as well. WE/PES without a top-notch option file just isn't the same. It was amazing what people did with them back in the PS2 days...

Any idea if we'll see this in the US in a timely manner? We usually don't get PES until late spring. I can understand a short delay, but that ends up being many months.
