As a pc gaming enthusiast and 2k fan since the dreamcast's days and to present,

Its a nice video but there's no way a ps3, or a 360 can handle that garnett render with 28 or so other players drawn on-screen with such detail and playable framerate. The PS3 and the 360 just doesnt have enough gpu power to push such high res graphics. Id say that may be a close indication on what the ps4 and xbox3 could do, but not this generation of game consoles. For those of you who dont know about pc gaming, Crysis (for Pc) is the most graphically intensive pc game today. Crysis may be around 75% of what that cgi shot of garnett represents, but even the latest gpus (graphics cards) can barely handle that.

Nvidia's latest human head demo running on the latest 8800GTX Ultra uses all the graphics cards power just to render a head. The human head demo takes up 700MBs of the 768MBs graphics memory on the 8800GTX! The 360 and the Ps3 both have about 280-350 MBs to play with. Do the math.

I think this demo is a close indication of that Garnett render in realtime:

Like I said the PS4 and Xbox720 will be able to handle graphics like that easily with AA/AF and yes 1080p goodness, but sadly that day isnt today.

Sorry for my technical write up.

This video reminded me of that same Shaq teaser. I'm not as hyped about this one as I am about the Shaq because that was a level never before seen. HOWEVER, this announcement might have drawn me back. I was going to retire from playing 2K but I don't know if I'll be able to do that. What I could really hope for is the facial features and expressions. I can't wait to the juice hits the cup.

On another note, the game is graphically solid when player on a HDTV which many people don't have when they're looking at graphics. The game could seriously improve in the graphical department just like every other game could improve. I'm really impressed because they have his color and body shape down right this time. Hopefully they have more dominance from the better players. I only wish they had a College Hoops title to bring out later on in the year.

I used to LOVE KG before he became a Celtic.

Either way though I thought they would sell a bunch of copies with Lebron on the cover. Still Lebron, Kobe, KG you can't lose either way.

Not a bad pick. I was hoping it would be Brandon Roy but oh well.

Same here, to me it was an obvious choice.

I picked KG also so now what we wait for an e-mail? Did everyone who picked KG win something? I hope I won a house or a spaceship or spaceship shaped house with alien babies on the front lawn

# 57 Jano @ 06/06/08 10:28 AM
I picked KG too but the contest is set up to where now 1 grand prize winner will win the game and I think a signed jersey. Then ten other people will be chosen and they win a free copy of NBA 2K9 on the release date of the game.

I hope that's they have a few more things going on the box. It's too bland. I like the way KG is standing but it seems like too much white in the background. By the way, does this also mean that they'll improve the posting up and play of the big man??

They should use the pic of KG working out w/ the weights in front of the mirror that's part of the C's home game intro... he looks like he needed some meds. He was insanely intense looking in that video...
