There has been a lot of hype surrounding Fight Night Round 4 lately. Noah Weber has put together an interesting article called Fight Night Round 4: The Perfect Career Mode where he gives EA advice on how to create, you guessed it, the perfect career mode.

Quote:
"Another really important feature that’s been missing from EA’s boxing games is rankings. There is no excuse for not having a dynamic rankings system. By focusing on this, EA could open up the entire career mode experience immensely. Instead of offering us a few choices at a time, the game could allow us to schedule our own fights based on the rankings system."

Very nice. I agree 100%. It should be easy enough to do, they need to look no further than VB2's boxers road career mode. Literally hire those guys to design the career and work on the in ring stuff at EA studios. I just hope they get this right. A great boxing game would be a wondrful thing.

Its a good article. Shouldn't be impossible to do for the simple fact that everything mentioned was done last generation, with Hajime no Ippo 2: Victorious road. That game had a career mode that was probably a little to deep, lol!

Really great article bro. Is there anyway you can send it to EA?

Someone needs to make the producers of Fight Night aware of our insane desire to play an awesome boxing career mode. Please let me unify the belts!! I want to become the undisputed champion. NCAA football has legacy, Madden has Dynasty mode. Why can't we have a great career mode?? its been only what 15 years since an american boxing game had a good career mode.

Great article. It was a very good read. I hope they have different ranks like world rankings, belts rankings etc;.

the diet and training plan sounds cool. hopefully it wouldn't take to long to train. I think it'd be cool if they're was certain tasks to accomplish to get bonus attribute points during the fight. IE: like where your coach gives you a plan that says take out the body so your opponent leaves his head open some. and if that task is accomplished to an extent you get like +1 or 2 in a certain category.

Agreed. We touched on that one over in the Prizefighter forums. A vast career, similar to a Madden or Ncaa franchise mode.

Reading about all the new things to add to career mode reminded me of a old game. Who remembers Greatest Heavyweights Of The Ring for genesis it already had a lot of the training features we want now and the graphics were on point it came out in 92.

Truth. 90% of what was mentioned is already in Boxer's Road 2 on the PSP as well. Even injuries. I remember getting hurt in a fight but still winning but my fighter was out for several months and could not train.

It would be cool to have more than one created boxer available, kind of like being able to control more than one team in other sports.
If you choose to fight against your own creation, the computer would fight using your style- something like the way 2k5 football will call plays against you if you give them your VIP.

i'd also like to see the ability to move up and down in weight classes. after unifying the belts in one division, i'd like to move up to a different division a la roy jones jr.

They really need to try and implement a multi-player career mode as well. I have alot of friends who play fight night and we all think we are better than the other, with a multi-player career mode the belt holder is the best like in real life.

I'm curious if DC gyms are included... Like Sugar Ray's or Olde School...

But I cant wait for fists to start flying...

The best career mode was Hajime no Ippo 2: Victorious Road for the PS2. Controlled everything down to the diet, exercises, training regiment, and the like. You can choose what year you want to start in, region (Japanese, England, USA) and even if you wanted to fight real boxers or just the anime characters. Simply amazing.

Great article. But I wouldn't want them to have a shorter fight with less rounds or accelerated clock. I had more than a dozen fights on Rd3 go the distance and actually loved it. My thumb didn't,but it felt good to have to keep it all together and not make a mistake.

Thanks for the comments, guys. We can only hope some of our ideas get implemented in the actual game.

Thats why you have options for people who want these things. Not everyone wants to play Madden with 15 minute quarters it throws the stats off. Just give us options and everybody will be happy.

I like the idea of an accelerated clock to get stats in line with true boxing stats.

Stamina makes for real stats not a accelerated clock.

While I agree with this statement, I still have to argue that the more options the better. Noone I know plays Madden on 15 minute quarters because it throws stats out of whack. Give me the option to make 2 minute rounds in career mode and I'll be happy. Give you the option to keep it at 3 minutes and you'll be happy. FN 04 had the accelerated clock and it worked out great.
