Richard Chavez is back this week with a look at five players who will be making big jumps ratings wise for NBA 2k9. Be sure to check out who he thinks will be making the leap.

Quote:
"When NBA 2K9 is released this upcoming fall, there will most definitely be debates ranging from Boston fans whining about Glen Davis’ rating to Lakers haters disputing Los Angeles’ almost assuredly high team rating. Nobody knows the method that 2K Sports uses to rate players, but we can safely conclude these five guys certainly won’t be complaining."

# 3 ZephyrSong @ 05/19/08 04:50 PM
what was his default rating?

No way Gay or Aldridge get rated that highly! Come on... you guys play the games, look at the players rated 89 or higher, they are much better than what Gay or Aldridge project to be next season.

My 2K9 sleeper is Loouuuuuu Williams for the Sixers... his overall rating won't be that high, but if they give him the bumps in the categories he deserves, he'll be nasty.

2. LaMarcus Aldridge
Portland Trailblazers
Original NBA 2K8 rating: 75
Projected NBA 2K9 rating: 89
Quote:
4. Rudy Gay
Memphis Grizzlies
Original NBA 2K8 rating: 82
Projected NBA 2K8 rating: 89
I pray to god this does NOT happen. Neither one of those ratings are warranted

ratings are way to high to begin with in the first place

Yeah, Aldridge should be an 81-83.. he's not Al Jefferson level... he's definitely a solid guy and might be beastly next season, but he doesn't have enough post game or defensive presence to get that high of a rating.

And yeah, Rudy Gay is nice offensively, but unless the overall doesn't give defense much weight, there's no way he's that high... he's a sieve on defense despite his physical gifts/size. I think he should be right where he was this year...

Aldridge...whhhhattt??

how can Aldridge be rated higher than Roy?

I kinda agree with Gay's rating... Chris Paul's is agreeable too, but Hedo's rating is ********. 84 at BEST... I would say 82 or 83 though... not 89!

Hedo is nasty. At least a 86-88.

alright i was lookin at his stats and stuff... I underrated him a bit... but I still wouldn't give him the rating he's about to get... I guess I'd go with 86.

I'm still trying not to hold my breath waiting on for news on the whole Take Two takeover by EA. Who knows if we'll even see another NBA 2K game.

If we've played our last NBA 2K game, we'll all have to thank the same guys who took the NFL 2K games away from us to avoid the competition.

But back to topic, I agree with the article's ratings of the players. I'd say Hedo is a matchup problem for most teams without a tall enough defensive forward.

# 14 clearkanal @ 05/20/08 07:44 AM
86 is normal for Hedo, but Lamarcus doesn't deserve 89.I can agree if it is 83-84.

If your factoring in DEFENSE in these ratings, then I don't agree w/ them at all. All of these adjusted ratings are for players known for their offense, not defense(Chris Paul gets many steals a game, but that's b/c he gambles on D way too often) As long as the attributes are editable like they have been, oh and IF 2K9 drops (which it should) then I guess we can change what we don't agree w/.

# 16 DC @ 05/20/08 11:47 AM
The thing I hate about most roster sets is that people have a PRESET overall rating that a person should be, so that forces them to inflate specific attributes that have NO business being inflated, to achieve that overall rating.

Thats why overalls should be done away with.

Aldridge 89....ok

# 18 xion_one @ 05/20/08 01:40 PM
Gay is an 84, max. Brandon Roy 86. You guys went crazy with this one. Chris will probably be a 97 and top 5 in the game.

# 19 tehova @ 05/20/08 03:23 PM
Give Gay the 89, its not like its going to shift the balance of the game online. But i'll appreciate it if it does happen.
