Honestly, I don't mind who the commentators are, because unless they add dynamic commentary, the commentary is going to get old after about Week 10.

Other than that, anything would be better with the radio guy, although I usually just turn off the commentary anyway and crank up the crowd and the PA. I like a stadium feel more than a telecast feel.
Interesting take on Collinsworth. I respect your view, but disagree. I thought Collinsworth was overly aggressive and (at times) unfair in his analysis and treatment of the Patriots throughout the spygate fiasco. I don't want to get into a cheat/ non-cheat discussion, because that's hopefully in the past now, but I like to see the different viewpoints and takes on commentators and how they are perceived across the nation.
I like Collinsworth's football analysis, but just don't care for some of his views. I'll have to be more objective in my viewing of him and his Patriots bias this year.
Regardless, I'm amped for the commentary additions and can't wait to hear how they implement them. Collinsworth should bring a good amount of experience and talent to the game. I'm not too familiar with the other guy, as I'm not a college football fan.
Thanks!

I haven't played Madden for a couple of years. I don't understand why John Madden isn't the color announcer anymore. His name is on the freakin' game! Does he not want to do it anymore? Is he even involved with the game anymore? I remember when the 15 anniversary game came out they showed him involved with the development.

Does Madden have the ESPN license? If so, why not use some of their guys like they do for NCAA?

always someone b******* about something. u complain about madden commentary, they take him out due to MANY people complaining about it being stale. they bring in the announcer guy and u complain (i do agree he sucked though but i didnt care if they kept him in) and they take him out. many people BEGGED for them to bring new announcing team. they do that and u STILL complain.

and u wonder why EA dont listen to people most of the time. if u dont like it, cut off the announcers and pump up the crowd noise or your stereo!

EXACTLY!!! for years people have complained about madden and wanting new announcers, then they do get announcers, that are not madden, and people come out of the woodwork to say "WHY ISN'T IT MADDEN?" jesus, pathetic!! why isn't it madden? Because Madden SUCKS at commentary in video games and we've been hearing him for what, 20 years now or whatever???

Of course with a new commentary team and their 1000 lines of commentary it will get repetitive but not to worry next year EA will include even more lines, the cycle starts again.

At least they realize that commentators can help to immerse you into the game and is part of the presentation that was lacking.

I wonder who's bright idea it was at EA to take them out in the first place.

yeah, this is what we're looking for.

WHAT ABOUT THE GAMEPLAY, ONLINE AND FRANCHISE ISSUES? PLEASE TELL US SOMEONE IS WORKING ON ALL THE PROBLEMS WE'VE BEEN TELLING YOU ABOUT FOR THE PAST 2-3 YEARS!!! i don't give a crap what the outside of a stadium looks like. just like we don't give a crap about filling up our ring. FIX THE GAMEPLAY ISSUES, PLEASE.

Here's to hoping. yes, the game looks great once again, but that don't cut it anymore.
If you read the interview with Phil Frazier, you'll see that they have addressed gameplay issues as well as Franchise issues.

I used to turn off the commentary after the first few weeks of buying a new version. But then I noticed that Al Michaels would give hints about the defense, saying if they went into bump and run mostly, "Looks like the defense is in press coverage", "and the defensive backs are moving up to bump the receivers"..... stuff like that. Helps a lot when you're playing online and people use the delayed BnR.

With that said, i don't think i can handle Collinsworth much, fortunately he won't be doing the play-by-play, Hammonds will.

But we're going to be stuck with Mr. Chicken Neck's snide-asz, overly-opinionated comments following each play. Hell, he doesn't know what he's talking about when he's commenting on a real football game, i can only imagine how unnerving he's going to be in a video game.

Maybe we'll have an option to just turn Collinsworth off.... (too bad we won't though).

lol...so much negativity about Collinsworth. I'm not his biggest fan by any means, but the guy doesn't suck. He actually has a good flow to his color commentary, even if he does come off a bit arrogant. I agree with a previous poster that commentary (as far as who's actually doing it) is subjective. At least it's not the radio guy, and at least (from my perspective) it's not the slepp inducing tones of Al Michaels and the same old "BOOMs" and "WHAPs" of Madden. Plus, Hammond is steady with play by play. My only concern is repatition, as this is the first year with these guys, so I don't know how much we'll actually get.

Lets be serious with ourselves though. People got tired of Madden announcing and wanted someone new because you heard the same exact lines year in and year out. It wasnt that Madden was bad, it was just got very old hearing the same one liners for years.

Sure, they changed to the radio and kept him for what....3 years ? There was never any positive feedback on this change. No one could have ever imagined that there would be some way that they could make the commentary in less annoying that madden, yet they managed to do it.

Now we have a new commentating team. Im excited about that simply because the radio announcer is one of the worst sounding and most boring announcers since Joe Montana Sports Talk football 92. When a game sounds just as bad as one that is 16 years old, there is a problem.

EA's changes are always in slow-motion

Did the radio guy ever get positive feedback? They then proceeded to give him 3 years LOL

Anyway, this announcing thing is nice (they'll be forced to have new lines) but to me its just another reason that I think ESPN implementation will once again be terrible. I would have been more encouraged if they hired an ESPN team because that would indicate 2K5 like integration.

keep in mind that its most likely the NFL that said "please use our broadcast team/GFX overlays" and not EA simply ignorning the ESPN license (EA will tell you it IS used quite well...ala sportcenter streaming updates)

the NFL network is trying to get off the ground and so by putting their brand in the #1 football franchise on the planet would only further their brand/image

They should've added a 3rd man to the commentating. Unless the commentary is done very well, it will still be a step behind IMO. A 3-man booth would've been a better decision. Or at least add a sideline reporter.
