Head Coach isn't available separately?

If so, lame as hell.

I read it over at neogaf, sadly i didn't read the whole thing, the price is great. Exceptional really, a steal. If i have the money then i'll go for the collectors edition since its only $30 more and you get a whole another level of the game.

Spectre, were you thinking about getting Head Coach but not Madden? I was actually looking forward to Head Coach more than Madden. I was going to wait and see how Madden turned out this year before I made a purchase. I agree, it sucks.

Yup- I (briefly) enjoyed Head Coach for the PC last year. For that type of game, the PC option is priceless- the game was actually decent with the slider tweaks on the PC. I much prefer Head Coach to Madden.

It's a money maneuver, I just have to deal with it.

Same here. I had it for the PC too. I saw for 20 bucks a few months after it's release and gave it a shot. Reading about the new features in HC 09 had me intrigued. I'm still going to take a wait and see on this one.

It is dishonest marketing.
Its not because you don't have to buy the special edition. If they sell a million its because people wanted Head Coach 09

You don't have to buy the special collector's edition.

if you could sync the two, that would be all right with me. I wouldnt mind switching out dvds if that meant a rediculously deep franchise mode.

I don't believe they planned it to sync; more of a coincidence. They playbook thing is cool for the offensive gurus of the board, but I don't see how your franchise would sync with HCs franchise. I feel a let down coming come August and I feel bad for those gamers who just play sports game. Peace.

I don't think so. I'm sure EA is wise enough to know that not everyone will purchase the Collector's Edition of Madden 09. So for those that don't, I don't think EA would try to give them the short end of the stick just b/c they didn't spend the extra cash for the CE.

Given the backlash they received from the community in regards to the franchise issues in Madden '08, I doubt they would MAKE you have to purchase Head Coach just to get a complete franchise mode.

So if I sell a Halo 3 special edition that comes with Elmo's ABCs and includes old versions of Halo 1 and 2 and some behind the scenes stuff and it sells 3 million copies, is it still OK next year to say that people bought 3 million copies of Elmo's ABC?

On release it now says "US: Not available separately"
So those that get Madden only will be handicapped by the lack of a playbook creator? Thats pure BS if true!! I cant see buying 3,4 football games this year...Shyt I can barely get alot of play out of 2...

Furthering the example, does anyone think Crackdown would have been so "successful" if it didn't include a key to the Halo 3 beta? Probably a million people bought that crap game just to get the beta key.

Is the Halo 3 special edition is the only version I can buy?

Ummm...how about the fact that you just paid $90 for Head Coach, when if it was released seperately, it should have been no more than $60?

Sure you could say that you will get $30ish back in credit for Madden, but there is no guarantee that you can trade it in. You won't have a box for Madden, if you want to keep it for Head Coach, or Gamestop might not except it as a trade-in without Head Coach included, since it is technically incomplete.

It is the only way that you can get Elmo's ABCs, which is supposed to be improved from the previous version and includes a whole new set of features that people have been asking for since it released, like being able to customize the order of the questions and import Elmo into Halo 3.
