I agree that the great moves should be largely limited to the shiftiest players.
I would disagree with putting McFadden and Harvin in that category. Both are players with unbelievable speed, good at keeping things north-south and finishing runs. But neither guy really excels at jukes, spins, or other moves in tight spaces. McFadden said it himself, that is not his style, and if you watch them play, they rarely do anything besides run straight ahead.

co-sign except for harvin is pretty shifty

TrevJo, are you ****ing ********? Have you ever watched Percy Harvin play on TV? None the less in person, not only is he fast, but if he is one of the shiftiest runners in college football. Maybe McFadden isn't, but you ****ed up about your thoughts on Percy Harvin.

# 45 TrevJo @ 03/10/08 03:51 PM
Ok I will completely take back what I said about Harvin. Making the kind of moves like the new EA video displays is not Percy's style, but he does have the capability. If you watch the video drlw322 posted, on almost every play he is just outrunning guys, or running through arm tackles. He does make two sweet jukes on one play on the reverse against Tennessee at 1:30 of the video. And then another juke two plays later against Georgia. Other than that, you don't see him throwing shoulder fakes, spinning (unless the hit sent him into the spin), spin-and-counter-spinning. He is generally a one-cut runner, not a guy who sets up moves with other moves like the EA/McFadden video demonstrates. I love Florida, I am a big Harvin fan and have seen just about every play he has made. It was wrong of me to say that he doesn't excel at making moves, and his agility is tremendous. But his tendency is 99% straight-ahead, north-south. That's something maybe for EA to consider... along with fixing the problem where CPU power backs still try to run outside a lot, they should give runners some kind of a style rating such some guys dance around a lot and other guys like Percy will almost always just go.

I agree, the thing is, he is so fast, he just outruns everyone most of the time, but when juking is necessary, he can do it just as well as almost anyone.

Does anyone know what system these videos were for? Was it last gen or current gen? It looked like XBox to me...I know it's a VERY early build, but it really looked washed out.

EA will not be developing an Xbox game this year from what I understand. PS2 yes, Xbox nope. This is 360 or PS3.

Sadly, I already know I'm going to be standing outside of GameStop at Midnight for this, and then I'm going to be uber depressed for spending 60 bucks on a game worth 15-25 dollars.

Eh... doesn't excite me.

Still can't wait for the game though.

How do I vote?

You can tell this guy doesn't quite know enough about the NCAA Football series.

He said to play McFadden, you'll have to play Madden. In explaining why McFadden wouldn't be in NCAA, he said the players are generic and don't have names. Well, they don't have names, but they do correspond to real-life players. You just have to edit them yourself. The reason he won't be in NCAA is because the rosters will be the current year's rosters and McFadden will no longer be playing college ball.

Pre Alpha aka Finished Product, when you're dealing with EA.

Well that is a little true it seems like the last few years. I don't see anything about the video that looks different than 08. If this is going to be NCAA 08.5, at least add the much begged for presentation, improved passing game, and better o-line blocking. If any one of importance reads this get real testers. I will definitely rent this game first, but purchase it used after the big patch is released.

I think the ability to patch game flaws gives the development teams no reason to hire testers because we have become there guinea pigs.

If you don't see anything different then I can only assume that you didn't play next-gen NCAA 08. None of the runs in that clip could be performed in last year's game.

EA... here is an idea... scrap everything you have done with NCAA (07, 08, and 09). Buy 2k. Start making college uniforms for APF. And release the game in July. That would be the best NCAA game ever.

You could call it "All American College Football 09".

More control will be good, but the animations still look stiff as ever. And all the jukes in the world won't make up for the poor blocking interactions from previous years.
