Beautiful shots, I don't know how anyone can say they don't look good with a straight face.

New doesn't mean "fixed" though.

Well I think anything would be better than the previous bat sounds.

Do bat sounds really bother that many people?

I'm not saying they don't need fixed, but I don't remember paying much attention to them last year.

Well when it sounds like a 2x4 hitting a rock it tends to be very noticable and does bother me. Hopefully it has improved this year. Then again baseball id my favorite game to play so maybe I'm being too "critical" ??

It's not that we don't care, it's just that some people give the other issues higher priority.

Before switching to MVP in 2004, I was a die hard High Heat guy. That game was incredible. That said, High Heat 2003 may be one of the ugliest baseball games ever created. Ever. I also love Power Pros. But it has some of the worst commentary of a modern sports game. It stinks.

While both those are certainly issues I wish didn't exist, both those games pack a terrific, on field baseball experience. So for me, things like that don't bug me too much.

To each his own, I guess.

God that grass irks me.

I'm pumped about the game, but I hope they do something about the crowd. At an angle, the crowd looks great, but when it's straight on (in the Wrigley shot), you can easily count how many people there are in center field.

It would also be possible to "fake" a 3D crowd in this sense...

Fully render the crowd up close, let them reach for foul balls, home runs, etc. But from a distance, use depth if field to "blur" a fully animated 2D crowd. Virtua Striker 3 on Sega's Model 3 arcader hardware did this years ago... and the crowd looked awseome (for it's time).

I love baseball, but I'm more concerned with gameplay then bat sounds. If it had a Brittney Spears song clip, that might bother me though.

It's not just you. These bat sounds annoy the heck out of me. I just don't get how they can't get it right. Maybe the bat sounds will be better this year we will just have to wait and see. Even if Ben said they FIXED the bat sounds i still don't think they will sound right. Madden also annoyed me with that stupid @ss shoutgun sound

A couple nice touches I noticed:

The batters box chalk is fresh in the 1st inning shots, but all "tussled" in the 5th inning shot at AT&T.

The team logos in the drop down ticker look nice.

There's even a difference between the batters box chalk in the 4th inning at At&T Park and the 5th inning at Fenway. Very nice.
