While the New Jersey Devils may not have gotten every player they chased after in the free agency window, they did manage to sign both NHL ready players and some more prospects to add to their pool in Albany.
While Marty St. Louis rejected New Jersey in favor of Winnipeg, Kevin Gravel in favor of Calgary, Cody Franson in favor of San Jose, and Brenden Burke in favor of Philadelphia, as well as a late offer for Joel Ward who turned down New Jersey for Florida, the Devils did manage to sign veteran "Mister Game 7" Justin Williams as well as previous signing Victor Olofsson. Also joining the Devils is NHL defender Corey Potter, previously of the Edmonton Oilers. Here is a rundown of the Devils' free agency acquisitions:
Justin Williams - 33 yrs old, 2 years 4.750M
Axel Holmstrom - 19 yrs old, 1 year 0.575M
Dryden Hunt - 19 yrs old, 3 year 0.550M
Mathias Karlsson - 20 yrs old, 3 year 0.550M
Roberts Lipsbergs - 21 yrs old, 3 year 0.550M
Victor Olofsson - 20 yrs old, 2 year 0.575M
Corey Potter - 31 yrs old, 1 year 0.900M
Ken Appleby - 20 yrs old, 3 year 0.550M

19 year old free agent right winger Victor Olofsson and the Devils have come to agreement on a 2 year conctract at 0.575M, which will see Olofsson begin his tenure with the Devils at their AHL affiliate Albany.
It's reported among sources that the New Jersey Devils have extended free agent offers to six players today. These players include wingers Marty St. Louis, Justin Williams, and Victor Olofsson, defensemen Kevin Gravel and Cody Franson, and goalie Brendan Burke.
The 2015 free agent class is considered weak by many when compared to previous seasons. Here is a rundown of the top 5 free agents at each position:

Contracts were offered to 7 Devils players, including Eric Gelinas, Seth Helgeson, Adam Larsson and Ryan Kijawinski, while two players had qualifying offers extended to them. Here is the full list of the Devils re-signings.

As nearly every hockey fan expected - Connor McDavid was the first player selected in this year's NHL Entry draft. While it is unclear at this time if he will sign immediately with the Sabres or remain for at least another year in Erie, one thing is certain - the Sabres just got a whole lot scarier a couple years down the road.
The New Jersey Devils were the league's biggest movers during the draft phase, completing a total of four trades as their new GM's attempt to overhaul the roster and prospect pool. New Jersey was offered to trade down two slots in the first round, and decided send their pick to Toronto in exchange for Toronto's number four selection and a third rounder, which was used by Toronto to select WHL standout Mathew Barzal, while New Jersey selected Connor McDavid's teammate Dylan Strome.
New Jersey also bolstered it's NHL level attack by completing a series of two trades - one sending right winger Dainius Zubrus to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Boston's third round selection at 90th overall, while the other brought former Anaheim Duck winger Kyle Palmieri to town in exchange for the Devil's own second round selection in addition to the third rounder obtained from Toronto.
New Jersey's final trade resulted in the appearance of London Knight centerman Mitchell Marner being available at the 30th overall pick, just two slots ahead of where the Devils' selection lied. With Arizona holding the pick from Chicago as a result of the Antoine Vermette trade this past season, New Jersey offered it's 32nd overall pick in the second round along with Florida's selection in the second round, which Arizona accepted.

The Buffalo Sabres have been named victors in the "Connor McDavid Sweepstakes" after winning the NHL Entry Draft Lottery. The New Jersey Devils came in second place, while the Arizona Coyotes came in third.
While Buffalo is seen as almost a for sure lock on taking Connor McDavid first overall, the Devils rumor mill has been churning that the 2nd overall pick may be up for grabs in a trade, as the Devils are keen to add more picks to bolster the somewhat thin prospect pool. With aging forwards taking up most of the 12 forward slots, expect this draft to be offense heavy for the Devils.
