Duchscherer brought his best stuff against the Mariners as he pitched his way to a complete game shutout. The M's couldn't figure him out as he scattered 6 hits and struck out 6 over the 9-inning outing. 1 run of offense was all the A's needed to beat King Felix Hernandez as he also threw a great game and pitched through 7. The A's will look to sweep the Mariners in the final game of the series before Boston comes to town on Monday.

The fans at the Oakland Coliseum went home happy after the A's edged out the Mariners 3-2 in the Oakland home opener. Gio Gonzalez pitched 7 strong shutout innings of 3 hit ball and Ryan Sweeney powered the A's with a lead-off solo shot in the 1st inning and followed with an RBI single later in the game to provide most of the offense. Matt Holliday also contributed an RBI single in his 1-4 night.

The Oakland Athletics' perfect season was spoiled by their So Cal Rivals as the Angels were victorious by a score of 8-3. Jered Weaver was able to go 8 innings, giving up 11 hits and striking out 9. Sean Gallagher wasn't so lucky. He went 5 innings, getting roughed up for 7 runs on 8 hits while fanning 6. Home runs were plenty as Holliday and Giambi went deep for Oakland and Morales and Rivera each homered for Anaheim.

The A's didn't get a whole lot of offense tonight. But it was enough to fend off the Angels in a 5-4 victory. 7 hits was all it took against the Angel's 14 hits scattered throughout. By the 4th inning, Angels starter Ervin Santana was settled down and finding his groove. Unfortunately, that was after he loaded the bases on 3 consecutive singles in the top of the 1st inning and gave up a 380ft. Grand Slam to Matt Holliday. Add to that an RBI Double by Jason Giambi in the 3rd inning and that was all ... Read More

Game 2 of the series between the A's and Angels is a great pitching duel between Dana Eveland and Kelvim Escobar. The A's manage 13 hits, but they're fairly well scattered throughout and they aren't able to get runs across the plate. Eric Chavez hits the A's first home run of the year to deep Center Field in the 2nd inning. It's a solo shot and provides the only scoring for the A's early. Eveland pitches 5 1/3 shutout innings before Vlad touches him for a double and later scores on a single by Juan ... Read More
Spring has arrived and baseball season is around the corner. Spring training is well underway, my Fantasy Baseball draft is done and my Opening Day tickets are purchased. And as of today, I have begun my Oakland A's franchise on MLB 09: The Show. I've had the game for awhile now, but have spent almost all my time with it in Road to the Show Mode, taking my created player up from AA to AAA and waiting to break into the majors. But I decided to start my A's franchise today to see how my home team ... Read More
