Game Notes
Philadelphia went away from Andrew Bynum to beat the Brooklyn Nets in their first round series. They won't be able to do the same and beat the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference semifinals. Jrue Holiday was the focal point of the 76ers' offense in their series win over the Brooklyn Nets in the first round, but Philadelphia will have to exploit the defensive mismatch Bynum creates against the Knicks' starting five. Bynum will be able to command the low post against weak defender Amar'e Stoudemire, so Holiday and the 76ers have to pound the ball in the paint while former Defensive Player of the Year Tyson Chandler is on the bench. Philadelphia won't be without its defensive problems though: Evan Turner and Thaddeus Young face their hardest defensive assignments of the season with pure scorers J.R. Smith and Carmelo Anthony heading to town. If Smith and Anthony continue to post 20 points a game apiece in this series, New York could make short work of the 76ers. However, this matchup between the top two teams in the Atlantic Division seems tailored to be a six- or seven-game series, likely ending with a Knicks upset.
