4/26/13-Timberwolves overcome turnovers, rally late against Mavericks
MINNEAPOLIS-Minnesota head coach Rick Adelman told reporters after his team's 98-91 win that for the first three quarters, it was the worst he'd seen one of his teams play "in 30 years."
"That game was the worst I've seen my team play since my days coaching junior college ball," he said. "That goes back, oh, about 35 years now? That is, until that fourth quarter. That was a work of beauty."
Minnesota turned the ball over 17 times in the first three quarters of Game 4, but the Timberwolves frontcourt kept Dallas from opening a huge margin; despite all the turnovers, Dallas held only a 72-67 lead.
That all added up into a huge fourth quarter rally by the Timberwolves. Minnesota opened the quarter on a 12-0 run and outscored the Mavericks 31-19 in the quarter. To top it all off, Minnesota didn't turn the ball over once during the quarter.
Both teams had all five starters score in double figures. Nikola Pekovic led the Timberwolves with 20 points and five rebounds, while Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavericks with 16 points.
Two Timberwolves starters finished the game with double-doubles. Kevin Love scored 17 points and collected 13 rebounds, and Ricky Rubio scored 13 points and tallied 15 assists.
The other two starters, Brandon Roy and Andrei Kirilenko, scored 12 points and 11 points, respectively. Alexey Shved also scored 10 points off the bench for the Timberwolves.
Behind Nowitzki, Vince Carter finished with 15 points, and Darren Collison scored 14 points and tallied eight assists. O.J. Mayo scored 13 points, tallied eight assists, and collected six rebounds. Shawn Marion was the last Mavericks starter to score in double figures, scoring 10 points.
