DENVER-The Denver Nuggets dropped the Los Angeles Lakers 104-100 to put the Lakers in an 0-2 hole, but Los Angeles might have bigger problems than that.
Antawn Jamison scored 14 points in the loss, but he went down with an ankle injury late in the fourth quarter. Diagnosed as an ankle sprain, Jamison is likely to miss at least two weeks, sidelining him for the rest of the series against Denver.
Kobe Bryant scored a game-high 39 points in the loss, but it was enough to top Denver's five starters, all of whom scored in double figures.
Ty Lawson notched a double-double in Denver's win, tallying a team-high 17 points and 12 assists. Behind him, Andre Iguodala and Corey Brewer each scored 15 points, with Brewer's 15 coming off the bench.
JaVale McGee and Wilson Chandler each nearly compiled a double-double for the Nuggets, with McGee posting 14 points and seven rebounds and Chandler posting 10 points and seven rebounds.
Danilo Gallinari was the fifth starter in double figures, scoring 12 points after scoring 26 in Game 1.
Along with Jamison and Bryant, Los Angeles had two other starters in double figures. Pau Gasol scored 16 points and pulled in six rebounds, while Dwight Howard scored 12 points and pulled in five rebounds.
Metta World Peace is expected to start in Jamison's place in Game 3. Lakers head coach Mike D'Antoni announced that Devin Ebanks would take Jamison's place on the active roster.
