CHICAGO-Center Solomon Jones became the first casualty of the Chicago Bulls' early playoff exit, as the team announced his release Saturday less than a week after the Bulls were eliminated by the Indiana Pacers in seven games.

Jones didn't play in a game for the Bulls during their playoff series against Indiana. In 58 games for the Bulls during the regular season, he averaged 1.1 points and 1.6 rebounds as the third-string center behind Joakim Noah and Nazr Mohammed.

The 28-year-old center was a second round pick out of South Florida in 2006. His best season came in 2009-10 for the Pacers, when he averaged 4.0 points and 2.8 rebounds in 52 games.

In Jones's place, the Bulls signed center Greg Stiemsma to a two-year deal. The Wisconsin product spent the entire 2012-13 season with the D-League's Iowa Energy, averaging 9.7 points and 10.7 rebounds in 50 games.

Stiemsma averaged 2.9 points and 3.2 rebounds in 55 games with the Boston Celtics last season, his first NBA experience after graduating from Wisconsin in 2008.
