Milwaukee started scoring early and got enough support late to come out of this game with the victory. With that, the series is tied 1-1 with 2 games left. Both teams sit at 3-2 now.

Atlanta wins one in the 10th, despite losing Michael Bourn early in the game to a sprained wrist. He will not miss any time with that injury though. The Brewers came from behind in the 9th inning, scoring 3 runs to tie the game. They were unable to ride the wave of confidence into the 10th though, and gave up a run and lost the game.

The Atlanta bats finally got going a in the early innings in today's game. They knocked Chien-Ming Wang out of the game after 4 2/3 innings. The Braves were happy to leave Washington with a 2-1 series win. Every win makes a difference in a division race down the stretch.

Next up for Atlanta is a trip to Milwaukee to take on the Brewers. Taking the mound in game 1 will be Derek Lowe for Atlanta and Randy Wolf for Milwaukee. Game 2 will feature rookie Brandon Beachy for Atlanta and Cody Scarpetta for Milwaukee. The ace for each club will take the mound in game 3 with Tim Hudson taking on Zack Greinke. On the mound in game 4 will be Tommy Hanson and Yovani Gallardo. It looks to be a great series in Milwaukee.

Atlanta got off to another shaky start offensively and defensively but settled down after the 1st inning and did not allow any more runs. Tommy Hanson struggled in the 1st, giving up 4 hits and 3 runs, but after that, he was solid. Jordan Zimmermann of the Nationals was giving up a lot of hits, but was able to get out of jams until the 8th inning when he gave up 2 runs to tie the game. Doug Slaten came into the game at that point and got out of the 8th without anymore damage. In the 9th, the Braves strung together a few hits and were able to take a 5-3. Craig Kimbrel came into the game to close it out, and did just that. He records his first save of the season.

The Braves bats were silent as Stephen Strasburg hurls a gem to get the shutout. The Braves looked lost at the plate and just could not get anything going against Strasburg. They shouldn't feel too bad though because Tim Hudson also threw a heck of a game. His only mistakes came in the first inning when the Nationals strung together 3 hits in a row to get a run across.

Game 2 of the series will come after a day off on Friday. The pitching match-up will be Tommy Hanson going up against Jordan Zimmermann.
The 2011 season kicks off for the Braves at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., against a division rival. These games, although early, are very important. Both teams have high expectations this year, with the Braves wanting to return to the playoffs, and the Nationals wanting to make strides in the division to get closer to the playoffs.

Game 1 of the series will pit Braves veteran Tim Hudson against the stellar young pitcher Stephen Strasburg. This should be tough for either team to generate runs.

The scheduled starters for game 2 are Tommy Hanson for Atlanta and Jordan Zimmermann for Washington.

Game 3 puts the up-and-coming Jair Jurrjens against Chien-Ming Wang. If the pitching matchups are any indication, it will be a great series.
