Game Recap:

An impressive performance led by a stout defense gives the Vikings their first win of the season. The defense not only held Derrick Henry to less than 4 yards per carry but they also tallied 6 sacks on Ryan Tannehill. Danielle Hunter could not be stopped in the 4th quarter notching 2 of his 3 sacks. On the offensive side, Davin Cook dominated, gaining over 200 yards from scrimmage. However, it was not all fun and games as Cousins turned the ball over 3 times in the first half, including another interception in the red zone. At the half, Zimmer turned to rookie Jake Browning and he answered glowingly completing 75% of his passes including a beautiful touchdown throw to Adam Thielen in the back of the end zone.

Said Zimmer after the game, “I’m proud of the way these guys fought back and found a way to win. The defense played exceptionally well even without key guys. Jake was able to make the throws he needed in the second half and we leaned a bit heavier on Dalvin to wear them out.”

Asked if there will be any change at QB, Zimmer was mum on the subject.

Will there be a change at QB1 next week against the Texans? Only time will tell.

Game Recap

Another week but the same result as the Colts dominated the Vikings from the opening kickoff. This week it was Dalvin Cook who turned the ball over at the 3 yard line and completely change the game momentum. Cousins struggled in the first half to connect with his receivers but seemed to get into a better rhythm in the second half. The defense struggled mightily losing Eric Kendricks and Holton Hill in the first quarter. Both players will be out 4-5 weeks and hands an already strained defense a crushing blow. Kyle Rudolph also suffered a shoulder injury and may be out up to 6 weeks.

The ship is starting to take on water. Can Zimmer start to patch the holes or will they continue to flounder?

Game Recap:

Turnovers were the name game this week and not even the addition of Larry Legend could help. Ugly Kirk Cousins showed up as his struggles from last season continue against the Packers. The game was locked in a defensive battle early until a muffed punt by rookie KJ Osborne set the Packers up for their first score. After that Cousins continued to turn the ball over on the Packers side of the field included 2 that were returned for touchdowns. Late in the 4th, the Vikings turned to rookie Jake Browning who led them to 2 TDs in garage time.

Could there be an early season QB controversy in the Twin Cities?

The start of the season is near the the 2020 Minnesota Vikings are ready to start their quest toward the Super Bowl! The preseason is over and the depth chart is set. Coach Zimmer is cautiously optimistic about this year's team. "It's been a different different year than we are used to. Veterans clearly have an advantage but might need to knock the rust of a bit quicker than normal. Rookies need to get their butt's in gear fast. The offense is rolling and the defense is ready. We need a fast start."

Optimism is in the air in the Twin Cities but only time will tell.
