A nice surprise for the holidays

I have been away from 2K for about a month: I was getting a little put off by the inaccuracy of the factory settings roster. The attributes are bloated for my taste. I kept promising myself I would get out the spreadsheet and continue the roster I have been working on; some days it is just easier to play a game than work on a game, so I kept putting it off.

Meantime, I was familiarizing myself with Mount And Blade: Bannerlord. The previous game was fantastic and always did a few things extremely well, and now it has added a few more to its repertoire. It may be more than a few; I have a lot more hours in front of me to experience every facet of that game. Actually, I did not do everything the previous game offered, but I still found it deep and challenging yet simple.

2K had two updates when I signed in. Even though the Player Focus camera angle is still only available in scrimmage mode and not MyLeague game mode, I am pleased to see the game becoming real again. Seeing Mo Cheeks' harassing on-ball defense create the occasional loose ball is refreshing, and makes defense fun and adds the 50-50 ball back into the strategy equation.

Dunks are toned down: Dr. J does not take the ball behind his head during a game the way he might during a dunk contest. Having seen Dr. J in an exhibition game as a boy, he was quick, efficient, and powerful when dunking. He obviously had a flare that influenced dunkers probably even today, but there was little wasted movement.

Looking forward to seeing what else MyLeague is doing.
