Hey Guys,
I don't blog very much here, but I would like to do so more in the future.
Is it just me or are the product placemnets in video games getting out of hand. I realize the sponsorships are necessary to off set the cost of production, and it does add to the realism a bit when we see more accurate adds on the boards in a Hockey game, but come on!
I am happy with NCAA 11, which like many of you I just bought, but the adds either have to go or mix it up a bit. I mean every game is sponsored by Reese and Coke? This gets old quite fast.
By far though, I think the worst example of product placement in video games goes to MLB 2k9... I mean the Tropicana Field should have been renamed Pepsi Field, brought to be Pepsi, the makers of Pepsi.... Not to mention the egregious creation of a whole new building in Chicago in order to push State Farm in Wrigley....
So I have to go now.... feeling like buying me some Reese's Peanut Butter cups, and washing it down with a mix of Coke Zero and Pepsi.... while I fill in my insurance forms as State Farm...

As an aside if you want to see an example of product placement just watch the majority of sports in Europe... the teams there rarely leave any space uncovered...
