This is the basic flexbone formation. The flexbone allows you to have 4 possible runners and 4 possible recievers on any given play. The bread and butter play of this formation is the triple option. As you can see the QB is closer to the line of scrimmage than in a normal shotgun. The RB is located close behind him which disguises which way a run would go or if it was even a run.
