SEATTLE -- The Bears D comes up big when it matters most.
The defense allowed just 7 points over the course of their game Sunday afternoon as they beat the Seattle Seahawks 24-7.
The Bears, who were winless going into the game, got a much needed win that may turn their season around. After last weeks game Coach Lovie Smith was quoted as saying "If we can't turn this ship around, we're clearing house. Nobody is safe." Turn the ship around is just what they did, forcing three turnovers in their Week 3 victory.
Lance Briggs and Charles Tillman shared the "Player of the Game" honor, each playing a large role in the defense's stellar performance. Lance Briggs had a fumble recovery for a TD to go along with an interception, making this his best game of the season so far. The man who forced the fumble recovered by Briggs was Tillman, who also had an interception added to his statsheet.
The offense was led by Matt Forte, who surmounted 100 yards for the first time of the season. He went for 106 on 22 carries, making up most of Chicago's 138 total rushing yards. Jay Cutler threw for a modest 140 yards with a touchdown and 2 interceptions. Greg Olsen hauled in that touchdown pass, one of his 5 receptions going for 75 yards.
The Seahawks (1-2), who only amassed 85 yards from scrimmage in the game, will look to rebound next week against the 2-1 Colts of Indianapolis.
The Bears take on the division rival Detroit Lions, who are currently on a 20 game losing streak.
Highlights from the game:
Charles Tillman, one of the "best strippers in the NFL", strips Julius Jones en route to a 23 yard fumble recovery TD by Lance Briggs.
Lance Briggs intercepts a Matt Hasselbeck pass intended for TJ Houshmandzadeh.
Jay Cutler hits Greg Olsen on the deep out for a TD. The Bears would go up by 14 following the 2-point coversion.
