It's only one game, but it looks like the old Miguel Cabrera is back. He was out on the field, at first base. He looked excited, he looked happy. And, most importantly for Tiger fans, he looked healthy. Cabrera did something he had never done in his previous 14 seasons in Detroit. He hit a home run on opening day. Matter of fact, he hit two.

The Tigers pounded 5 homers on the day, blasting the visiting Cleveland Indians 6-0 in front of a sell out crowd of 41,299. Jeimer Candelario, Willi Castro, and Jonathan Schoop also went deep for Detroit.

Matthew Boyd looked great, too. Almost unhittable. Boyd gave up just a lone hit, a single to Franmil Reyes. The only other hitter to reach base was the first hitter of the game, Luplow, who reached on an error by shortstop Willi Castro. Boyd went 7 innings, striking out 10. Derek Holland and Buck Farmer each worked a scoreless inning in relief.

The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first, on solo home runs by Candelario, and Cabrera. Detroit went back to back in the 3rd, when Willi Castro and Cabrera went deep on back to back pitches, giving the Tigers a 4-0 lead. Jonathan Schoop added a 2 run home run in the 5th, to cap the scoring.

Detroit has an off day tomorrow. Game 2 of the series will be Friday. Zach Plesac takes the mound for the Indians against Detroit's Julian Teheran. Game time is 1:05 PM
