Every single player in the Kansas City lineup had at least one hit Thursday as the Royals racked up six extra-base hits, including two home runs, for seven runs on 14 hits to beat the host Texas Rangers, 7-1, in the opener of a four-game series at Globe Life Park.

The Royals (9-6) got to Texas No. 1 starter Yu Darvish (2-2) in the third inning, scoring four runs to break open what was a 1-1 game at the time. Alex Gordon's two-run home run capped the rally. Mike Moustakas put the icing on the cake with another two-run homer in the eighth off of Texas reliever Tanner Scheppers. It was the second straight outing that Scheppers had allowed a HR.

Five Royals recorded multi-hit games as KC collected four doubles to go with its two long balls. It was the second time in three games the Rangers gave up multiple home runs and at least seven runs in a game.

Texas did well to answer in the first inning after back-to-back doubles in the top half of the inning gave Kansas City an early 1-0 lead. Delino DeShields led the game off with an infield single, stole second base, moved over to third on a groundout and scored on a two-out opposite-field bloop single by Rougned Odor to tie the game at 1-1.
