The Oakland Athletics hit three home runs, had five extra-base hits, scored eight runs and had double-digit hits on the day as they beat the Texas Rangers, 8-2, to even their AL West Division three-game series.

Andrew Cashner (1-1) suffered his first loss of the season and saw his ERA balloon by nearly three runs after he surrendered seven earned runs on nine hits, including two long balls to Mark Canha and Khris Davis, in just 4 1/3 innings pitched. He entered the game with just a 1.17 ERA in his first two starts of the year.

Texas reliever Tanner Scheppers was also a victim of the A's (6-9) power on Tuesday, giving up a solo shot in the seventh to Adam Rosales after he had entered the game with a miniscule 1.00 ERA.

Delino DeShields Jr. walked twice and scored both of the Rangers' runs from the leadoff spot, doing a good job of filling his role. Several Rangers were given the day off Tuesday, including starters Rougned Odor, Shin-Soo Choo and Jonathan Lucroy.

The regular starting lineup will be back tomorrow as the Rangers look to win their second straight series against division competition.
