A loyal Laker fan no more
Posted on November 12, 2012 at 11:06 AM.
When thinking of the LA Lakers franchise, the names that pops up is a who-who of basketball royalty. Kareem,Baylor,Wilt,The Logo,Magic,Worthy,Shaq,Kobe. Even in the coaching ranks,Riley,Jackson. But with the last two hirings, the model franchise have gone from kings to court jesters. Mike Brown,a Gregg Popovich disciple was not the answer now with the hiring of Mike Dan'toni, the Lakers once again has acccepted mediocre ball in the City Of Angels.
Once again a successful owner(Jerry Buss) leaves his team to his sliver spoon son(Jim Buss) and the son screwed up the business. See the Yankees & the Knicks for example how the "company" is run now since the keys to the franchise have been handed over from father to son. What other candidates was available you ask? Jerry Sloan was interested in the position,Brian Shaw a Phil Jackson disciple, maybe a money for coach exchange w/the Cavs for Bryon Scott, the point is why hire a retread who in his last job was ran out by the star player & record was an abysmal 121-167. Is that a championship resume? I don't think so.

Im a socal sports fan, and my main problem with the fans is that they're not loyal to the teams. If the teams win the 'fans' will claim they've been fans for blank years, but if the teams are not doing well they jump ship.

I was not a fan of Mike Brown when he was hired, but I was willing to give him a chance. I'm glad he got fired, and was hoping for Phil to come back until Kobe retires. I felt like Phil would have been the better of the two.

However, only a few of the players know the triangle offense and it can be difficult for some players to learn it. Having Phil absent from certain road games, won't help the team much. For the long run Mike D'Antoni might be better for the team. Only time will tell, and I am ready to give him a chance.

Out here on the east coast,we know full well what Dan'toni is capable of. His teams consisted of high scoring, low defensive intensity & no playoff success. That will not bode well with the Laker nation. The triangle offense produced over 10 'chips so it cant be that hard.
