The Tigers jumped out to a 5-1 lead, and held on to beat the New York Mets in game 3 of the World Series, taking a 3 games to none lead in the series. Miguel Cabrera had a pair of hits, and drove in 3. Javier Baez and Juan Soto also had RBI. Eduardo Escobar homered twice, and Pete Alons also homered for the Mets, in the losing effort.

The Tigers scored twice in the top of the 1st, on a Miguel Cabrera 2 run single. Escobar homered in the bottom of the 2nd, cutting the lead to 2-1. Cabrera singled in a run in the top of the 3rd, giving the Tigers a 3-1 lead. The Tigers got 2 in the top of the 4th, on an RBI groundout by Javier Baez, and a Sac fly by Juan Soto, for a 5-1 lead.

The Mets cut the lead to one, with a 3 run 6th. Pete Alonso hit a 2 run home run, and Eduardo Escobar followed with a solo shot, making it 5-4. The Mets got the leadoff hitter on in the bottom of the 9th, but Gregory Soto slammed the door for his 6th save of the post season.

The Tigers can clinch their first World Series title since 1984, with one more win. Game 4 is Sunday night, in New York. Eduardo Rodriguez will start for the Tigers. Taijuan Walker is scheduled to start for the Mets, but there is speculation that they could turn to Max Scherzer on 3 days rest. Game time is 7:05PM
