The Tigers are two wins away from winning the World Series for the first time since 1984. The Tigers beat the Mets 10-0 in game 2. Tarik Skubal threw 7 outstanding innings, allowing just 4 hits.
After a scoreless first, the Tigers erupted for 5 runs in the bottom of the second. The first two runs came on infield singles by Jonathan Schoop, and Kyle Dutcher. Javier Baez capped the inning with a three run home run to left.
The Tigers got 5 more in the 4th, chasing Mets starter Jacob deGrom. Schoop led off the inning with a solo home run, ending the night for deGrom. Javier Baez doubled in Dutcher for a 7-0 lead. Juan Soto homered to right, scoring Baez, for a 9-0 lead. Spencer Torkelson followed him with a solo home run of his own, making it 10-0.
The series now shifts to New York for games 3-5. Game 3 is Saturday night. Tyler Mahle faces Chris Bassitt. Game time is 7:05PM
