TIGERS (56-11) SWEEP CUBS
Gleyber Torres singled in two runs in the bottom of the 9th, leading the Tigers to a 2-1 win over the Cubs. Jackson Jobe allowed 1 run on 6 hits over 6.2 innings. Will Vest (2-0) picked up the win in relief.
Riley Greene singled in a pair of runs in the bottom of the 8th, propelling the Tigers to a second consecutive 2-1 win over the Cubs. Tarik Skubal (12-1) earned the win, allowing 1 run on 6 hits over 8 innings. Jason Foley earned his 17th save of the season.
The Tigers completed the sweep with a 6-5 win over the Cubs. Matt Vierling (5) homered, and drove in 2. Kyle Dutcher (27) also homered for the Tigers. Jack Flaherty (7-2) allowed 1 run on 4 hits over 6 innings, earning the win. Jason Foley earned his 18th save.
UP NEXT
The Tigers are off on Monday, then head to Baltimore for a quick three game series against the Orioles (40-25). The Orioles are second in the A.L. East, one game behind the Yankees. Following this, the Tigers will return home for a six game home stand, three against the Reds, followed by three against the Pirates.
