TIGERS WIN TWO OF THREE AT HOME VS YANKEES
The Tigers suffered their first loss of the season, 3-2 to the Yankees. Kerry Carpenter, and Kyle Dutcher had RBIs for the Tigers. Kenta Maeda started, and went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits, getting a no-decision. Andrew Chafin (0-1) suffered the loss in relief. Anthony Volpe, Dominic Smith, and Trent Grisham had RBI for the Yankees.
The Tigers rebounded to take game two, 3-2, behind 7 strong innings from Tarik Skubal. Skubal allowed 2 runs on 8 hits with8 strikeouts. Tyler Holton pitched the final 2 innings to earn his second save. Spencer Torkelson (3) homered, and Parker Meadows and Javier Baez had RBI.
Gleyber Torres walked off his former team with a 2 run home run in the bottom of the 10th, as the Tigers beat the Yankees 5-4 in 10 innings. Riley Greene (3) and Jake Rogers (2) also homered. Rogers drove in 2 runs. Jack Flaherty went 6.2 innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, striking out 8. Beau Brieske (2-0) earned the win in relief.
UP NEXT
The Tigers have an off day on Thursday, then head to Minnesota, for a four game series with the Twins, followed by a three game series in Milwaukee.
