College Football Championship 2014 Launches Kickstarter Fundraiser Stuck
Posted on May 27, 2013 at 03:03 PM.

Longshot Games, a group of ex-2K Sports and ex-EA Sports developers, recently announced a Kickstarter campaign for their first-ever game, College Football Championship 2014.

If College Football Championship 2014 meets its $1 million funding goal by 1 AM EST on Saturday, June 8, the game will launch simultaneously over Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network in the summer of 2014.

As the NCAA license's current exclusivity deal is set to expire by the 2014 football season, College Football Championship 2014 is promising to ship fully licensed with all 125 FBS schools and the official BCS playoff system.

College Football Championship 2014 will sell for $30 at launch, but the first 1,000 donors can back the game now on Kickstarter for only $20.

Longshot Games' core feature list includes:

Realistic Physics - Every step, hit, block, and catch is controlled by a top-shelf kinematic physics simulation, resulting in the most realistic football gameplay ever.

Coach Career Mode - Work your way up from offensive coordinator at a bottom-tier school to a head coach competing for national championships.

Online Play - Play single games head-to-head or cooperatively online, or dominate all your friends in an online league.

BCS Playoff - Guide your team to victory through the historic first BCS playoff.

Create Formations And Plays - Take to the chalkboard and unleash your inner coordinator by creating your own unique formations and plays.

Well, they weren't going to make their funding goal, so their larger project has been cancelled. They will be putting out something smaller though, to try and continue to gain backing and support. Here's a link http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...hip-game/posts

Also pretty interesting to look at the level of backing available, in terms of being able to get your name and face in the game as a recruit, advertisements for businesses, attending launch party, etc. Obviously it's null and void now, and I'm not very familiar with kickstarter so maybe it's common, but an interesting strategy. I'll definitely be picking up whatever product they are able to put out on Live.
