Signings:
Headed into Free Agency, I didn't want to overpay for Marques Colston. I was prepared to pay up to 7 mil per year for him, right at market value, and if somebody offered more than that, I would take the 1st round pick and the extra cap space. The Bucs offered him a 5 year deal worth 26 million and a 4 mil bonus. That's a steal for the best free agent on the market and one of the best receivers in the game, but it would cost an extra 1st round pick... I went ahead and matched the offer, because Marques Colston is worth it. I'll have to find another way to trade up for Sweetney.
I started Free Agency with just over 25 million in cap space.
WR Marques Colston, 5 years 26 million, 4 million bonus - Retaining my #1 receiver makes my offense much more potent. I'm glad to get him back at a fraction of what he's worth.
CB Ricky Manning, 4 years 15 million, 2.5 million bonus - Just like Jacques Reeves, a good fit for my Tampa 2 with points of potential in most areas. Good health and learning, also, and a team friendly deal.
I'm planning to save most of my money for extending my own players in the future. Plus, the crop of talent in this free agent class was really low. Not many players were worth going after. I didn't have any backups I could trade either, as most of them had cap penalties too high to remove from the roster. After I finished signing players, I had 17.83 million in cap space. I moved on to prepping for the draft.
