While the start of the 2010 NCAA Football season may still be several months away, it’s not too soon to begin preparations for the fresh season.

New article @ Offthebag.com | Bud Selig, Please Retire
An open letter to Bud Selig:
Dear Bud,
Today you had a great opportunity to mend many baseball wounds with one single act.
Instead you chose to let let the infection grow.
Following Jim Joyce’s mistake that cost Armando Galarraga a perfect game, you had the opportunity to reverse the safe call to an out.
The reversal would have done several things. [READ MORE]

New article @Offthebag.com | MLB Needs Instant Replay Expansion
Tonight’s debacle of a call by umpire Jim Joyce to deny Detroit’s Armando Galarraga a perfect game with two outs in the 9th has stirred up talks of instant replay expansion for America’s pastime.
While the purists will come out of the woodwork and argue their “good ol’ days” rant, the truth is that tradition is no longer an excuse.
The MLB fan base is too smart for that ... Read More

By now I'm sure many of you have read the new NCAA 11 blog regarding the defensive gameplay adjustments to stop a dual-threat quarterback (among other things).

1. The ability to alter gameplan settings before AND while playing an opponent. This allows us to set the aggressiveness towards a scrambling quarterback when he leaves the pocket, etc.
2. Including defensive logic to determine ... Read More

New article @ Offthebag.com | Is USC 'Steroid U' ?
ESPN has reported today that Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing will be suspended for four games during the 2010 NFL season due to a positive steroids test.
This could easily become a debate over the severity of only a four game suspension.
Ben Roethlisberger, who has engaged in several immoral acts but has not been charged criminally, will sit out six games for his actions.

New article @ Offthebag.com | Improving Team AI in Sports Games
While reading through a great blog post at Operationsports, I was inspired to write a response comment. As I wrote out the comment it turned into a full fledged blog post of it’s own.
So with apologies to Boregard at OS.com, this isn’t an attempt to steal your thunder, but instead is a “thank you” for making a great point that stirred up what hopefully becomes some beneficial discussion.
