NCAA 11: Is USC worth it?
Posted on June 26, 2010 at 01:26 PM.
Offthebag.com has posted a new article highlighting the pros and cons of using each team from the PAC 10 in an NCAA 11 dynasty.

With the controller in your hands, however; there are no such restrictions. And nothing would irritate fellow PAC 10 teams like knowing the real life Trojans can’t make a postseason bowl game, only to let them slip through with a BCS appearance on NCAA 11 by EA Sports.

In other words, if you want to replicate the situation of the Trojans, you’re going to have to do it the hard way. By beating down all that is USC in your dynasty. And if your team is USC, it’s like the real world doesn’t even exist.
Which team from the PAC 10 would you choose for an NCAA 11 dynasty?

ARIZONA!!!!! They have a chance to reach the top tier in the conference with USC's penalty and Masoli being an idiot.

Unfortunately, I think USC will still pull in the recruits because the new guys won't be affected by the sanctions as much. If they redshirt next year they will be able to play in a bowl eligible season as Freshmen essentially.

As for Oregon, I don't think losing Masoli is going to hurt that much. The Ducks are loaded at almost every position.

If I use a Pac-10 team, I may roll with Washington. I see this team improving every year. Glad to see UW on the rise...

USC is my favorite team from the Pac-10, but I won't play with them at all next year because it would be unrealistic to make a bowl game, and to forfeit losses. Oh well. Maybe I'll just replace them with a created team.

What I am wondering is if SIM leagues are going to cut the # of scholarships by 10 for the first 3 years. Not much you can do about the bowl games, maybe just sim them i guess.

Washington is definitely my favorite team to use in the PAC 10 this year as well. I think Arizona might be a close second. I think they are both underdogs even though the Huskies have expectations because of Locker and most people still doubt them and they should have a chip on their shoulders.

It might be interesting to take USC and swap them for a WAC team that is horrible. Within a few years you should hopefully get an invite to the PAC 10 in an exchange for the horrible team. By this time it will have been long enough to cover the two year ban. It may not work perfect, but it will at least keep them out of the national championship most likely.

Do commissioners have the power to cut scholarships, or is that an "honor code" self-regulation thing.

Interesting theory, but that would almost guarantee a BCS bowl game, considering the weak schedule. But, it would hurt recruiting a bit because of the conference prestige hit.

I did think of that but didn't mention it. It's definitely a double edged sword when figuring out how to handle the USC situation in NCAA 11.

@osubeavs721

Out of all the predictions I've made for this season, I'm a little nervous about placing the Beavers so far down in the PAC 10 when many have them in the top 3 or 4.

Jacquizz Rodgers is good enough to make me eat my words and I definitely enjoy the style and approach of OSU. I just find it hard to believe that one man is enough to win as many games as others are predicting... especially in the PAC 10.

The only thing wrong with that is why would a player come to USC (which is no longer under Pete Carrol) and sit out a year when they can go somewhere else and possibly make an impact immediately. It WILL hurt their recruiting.

I can't play against my USC Trojans. I will stick by them through this rediculous punishment and we will be back on top in no time.

@14straight

I have similar issues with recruits making many of the decisions they do, but the fact is that big name guys will still go to USC because it won't affect them as much in their career. The restrictions will be over by the time these recruits see any significant time and they will have no bowl bans for their Jr and Sr seasons.

There are many other reasons like location, facilities, tradition, etc. that attract players to USC, but a 2 year ban and limited scholarships won't hurt USC as much as it would a middle of the road team.

@Maniac-64-

Are you going to try and reproduce the restrictions in NCAA 11? Or are you going to say it's excessive and shouldn't be there in real life, so it doesn't belong in the game?
