ESPN has reported today that Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing will be suspended for four games during the 2010 NFL season due to a positive steroids test.

This could easily become a debate over the severity of only a four game suspension.

Ben Roethlisberger, who has engaged in several immoral acts but has not been charged criminally, will sit out six games for his actions.

Cushing, on the other hand, has directly affected the integrity and outcome of football games by taking steroids and will only sit four games.

While that would be a very valid argument, the major questions I have is �When did he start using?�

Just looking at Brian Cushing and seeing how well he played in his first season where he earned rookie of the year honors and a trip to the pro bowl, and you notice he doesn�t look any differently physically now than he did during his days at USC.

The natural conclusion could easily be that Cushing, and others, use steroids as a boost to their athletic performance while playing for the Trojans at USC.

There were allegations of Cushing's steroid use ****** back his HS days in New Jersey. Having watched USC very closely over the years there is no doubt in my mind, nor many other USC fans that Cushing was using.

If you look at the before/after photos it's pretty obvious that no ordinary efforts could attain a physique like that in just a few years by natural means. Remember there was a report that Cushing and Matthews failed steroids tests when they entered the NFL combine last year. Could Matthews be next? What about other USC or big time D1 athletes?

Also...should Cushing's Rookie of the Year award be taken away? What about his Pro Bowl selection?

Steroid users get the same treatment as drug users (street drugs). I think Ben Rothlisberger got the right treatment for his actions because Pac Man jones was never charged with any crime but got suspended for the whole season. Ben name didn't come up as many times Pac Man jones name did which is why he is only getting four games.

I always thought Dominic Byrd was on roids as well because He got huge pretty fast as well. He was the Tight end for USC when they beat Oklahoma for the Championship. I know him personally were both from Minneapolis. You can usually tell if a guys is on roids by there forearms because a few guys I played college ball with came back to school after our winter break and their forearms where huge as hell kinda like popeyes.

I also saw some guys when playing in college that were rumored to be using 'roids and it was pretty obvious as well. It's no doubt a huge problem in all of sports, no different than any other illegal drug use. Users don't feel they will ever get caught and justify it by telling themselves that everyone else uses as well.
