The OS Daily Ten - Pacquiao and Mayweather Set for September Fight?
Posted on January 2, 2014 at 01:12 PM.
September is a long way from now, but unofficial reports have surfaced that point towards a September bout between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. For months, both sides have postured and fired verbal shots towards the other as numerous attempts to schedule a fight between the two continued to fall through.
Both are set to return to the ring for separate matchups sometime in April or May. This would allow for a natural progression towards a September face-off between arguably the world's two most-revered boxers. But nine months is a lot of time for plans to fall through the cracks or for an injury to derail plans -- not to mention a return to the blood-test saga.
On a scale of 1-10, how excited are you for Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather to fight?

I'm very excited for this fight I just wish it happened a couple of years ago when Pacquiao was on top of his game too.

Mayweather is going to give the little brawler a boxing lesson. Manny has exciting fights, but he makes too many mistakes and gets in trouble too much. Mayweather rarely gets out of position and want engage in a brawl early. He'll wear him down and finish him off late or win easily by decision and the world can hate him even more.

What's the point now? Oh yeah, that's right, Pacquiao is way past his prime and not a threat to win. Of course, "Money" wants to book a fight.

This fight isn't going to happen. Floyd just posted that this fight isn't happening.

This fight has lost almost all of it's luster to me. This fight should've happened 5-6 years ago after the Mayweather vs Dela Hoya 2 fight; which never happened because Mayweather had a brief retirement. Pac-Man isn't the fighter he was 5 years ago and neither is Mayweather. Yes, Mayweather is still undefeated and his defense is as good as it's always been but he's changed a bit too. Now he fights a little more cautious and is less inclined to brawl then he was when he was younger. He would rather out technique and out smart to a safe win, which isn't dumb at all. The sport is about winning but this type of fighter is a little boring to watch on TV unless you're a boxing lover and can appreciate how great his style is. The old Pac-Man could have maybe got the old Mayweather to drop his plan for about 3-4 rounds and made this an exciting fight. I don't think that the Pac-Man today has the elite skill and speed to bring Mayweather out of his comfort zone and Mayweather will cruze to out point Pac-Man in another boring but technically masterful win. I wish this was 5-6 years ago because I truly feel like Pac-Man could've beat him back then. It's a shame that I have to watch these two elite champs box when they're out or on the back end of their prime, damn shame. I love boxing and I've seen a lot of great fighters and fights but this won't be a great fight, mostly hype in this case. That's is they even fight!

Lol at anyone saying pacquiao is too old. Do people not realize floyd is OLDER than pacquiao? So what does he not age now? This fight probably isn't happening in september though. But, i will say, when/if this fight happens floyd will school pacquiao and get the UD, if it would of happened in the past the outcome would of been the same. Styles make fights and floyds style is a nightmare for pacquiao who has proven he has trouble with anyone who doesn't stand right in front of him and moves/boxes more.

I'm on 50 on that scale! Even though PAC really isn't what he used to be and even though I can't stand Money, I see him taking this.
