I think it's necessary to make winning the division a real goal. like in 2010 when the Yankees didn't consider winning the division, cause they wanted to rest player and thought they were getting a better match up by getting the Wild card and missing playing Texas. I would ultimately like a balanced schedule so situations like Cleveland playing a thousand teams to earn a playoff spot.

Cleveland played the same schedule as any other Central div. team, and unlike Texas and Oakland, didn't play Houston 18 times. Its not their fault the schedule makers thought they would be irrelevant at the end of the season. Win 10 in a row against any team (and needing everyone of them) is an accomplishment. The bulk of their losses to over .500 teams were to Det , Boston , and NYY.They were 25-8 vs. the west with a combined 10-3 record vs Tex.and Oakland. I would like to see a balanced schedule also, but enough with the Tribe getting in because of a easy schedule. They won 92 games period.

Dude, they were 20 games under .500 vs. teams above .500. , simple they beat up on weak teams, couldn't deal with the big boys.
