QOTD: What will be the fallout of the latest report surrounding SEC players receiving improper benefits?
- Former 'Bama All-American D.J. Fluker received over $30,000 in cash, services, and goods according to a Yahoo report. The first-round pick of the San Diego Chargers in the most-recent NFL draft is among five players implicated -- including athletes from Tennessee and Mississippi State.
- Mark Sanchez has a torn labrum and will likely need season-ending surgery. Could his days in New York be at their end?
- Anthony Dixon decided it would be a good idea to question the masculinity of Seattle's football team, referring to them as the 'She-Hawks.'
- If the Big-10 wants to restore some credibility, this weekend holds some key matchups with PAC-12 squads that could help earn some respect.
- Boston triumphed over the Tampa Bay Rays in grand fashion last night, stirring up the American League Wild-Card race -- even the Royals are within striking distance.
- There are plenty of doubters regarding the impact of Philadelphia's new offense, but if you want proof of its damage; ask the 'Skins.
- Ndamukong Suh has earned a rather dirty reputation since his rookie season when the attention was on his skill at defensive tackle.
- Buffalo didn't win the game Sunday against the Patriots, but one fan (to the left of the goal posts) won the contest for best sign. [Image]
- Atlanta's Evan Gattis crushes a ball that crushes a fan in the ... uh ... well you know. [Video]
- Jose Fernandez flexed his muscles with a homerun to pile on another dominant pitching performance -- and then the benches cleared.

I knew it! Need to investigate the other alabama players who are driving 50k worth Escalades and Chargers (Julio, Dre, Ingram).

Let's be honest, every major college team gives players "incentives" to join their team. They also fix grades and overlook drug tests so their players can play. College is a business and you do whatever it takes to make money.

Not likely to happen unless either of these two things are proven - 1) more players are uncovered as having received improper benefits on the team thus signaling a systemic issue, or 2) the NCAA determines that coaches were involved in facilitating these improper benefits. If neither of those two are an issue, then not much will happen. I can guarantee you Alabama will institute their own corrective actions, per say, and the NCAA wil buy off on them. Nick drives a hard ship and the NCAA knows he doesn't play around and isn't dirty.
Like someone above mentioned, all teams have some of this going on to one extent or the other. The SEC has had a target on its back for years because of the dominance in college football and I don't see that going away anytime soon. I really hate that DJ made this decision that could hurt his alma mater, but at the same time, none of know what these kids deal with. I personally know of DJ's situation growing up and what that young man endured which leads me to believe things hadn't gotten any better (financially) for mom and he did what he thought he needed to do. Not that it's right, because it certainly isn't (it's the rules), but if you are the only viable option to provide for your family, you do what you have to do. You can argue that point until you're blue in the face, but when it's between eating and not eating, you're going to do what you have to do.
Haters are gonna hate, especially because this is currently happening to the most dominate football team in the country and everyone is sick of seeing/hearing about them. But if you are being realistic and ponder the thought detailed above, you know exactly how you would choose. That is unless you are a selfish prick who cares only about yourself.
