Seriously though, I'm a Braves fan and when I saw this happen the last thing I thought was, "If only there was a safety bag like 8 year olds use?"
I hate it for Hudson though.

Oh and while we're at it lets go ahead and make football safer too. We need to trade in the shoulder pads for flags because there are plenty if ACL tears and broken legs that could have been prevented. Come on.

Hudson needs to put his foot on the inside part of the bag. Yeah it's a split second thing and easier said than done. Anytime you step on the bag like he did you risk injury. Truely unfortunate

I wonder how many times in his career he's practice that drill? Freak accidents happen, and this was just that.

You people talk like this is a routine play. A pitcher's eyes aren't on the bag, they're on the ball/fielder. They're running in the direction and feeling for the bag with their foot, hoping they land on a good spot. I'm not saying a safety bag is the answer, but this is not a simple play by any means.

Why not implement a safety bag? It doesn't give the advantage to either the runner or the person covering the bag and can save so many of these injuries.
