I want to take a break from railing on EA and other gaming companies, in order to offer a bit of advice for next year’s edition of NCAA Football. Over the years, EA devs have taken steps to improve the dynasty portion of the game, namely with features such as Coaching Carousel and a revamped recruiting system. Today I want to touch on the latter of the two features.
Before NCAA Football ’11, users who took advantage of the recruiting part of the game were given a list of items ... Read More

The middle of August (or end of the month, as is the case this year) usually comes a few repeatable occurrences. The end of summer is in sight, college kids are getting ready to hit the books (ha!) and EA’s Madden football is released to the masses. Life is great, if you’re a sports gamer.
Not so fast, over the past few years EA Sports’ Madden NFL Football has released to a flurry over mediocre reviews and a lukewarm reception from the hardcore/sim fan base. Seemingly each year ... Read More

Everybody has their own idea of how to make the best video game possible. I’ll admit, I think I have the best and only ideas for the best football game ever (kidding, of course!) But, we need to look at games nowadays and ask ourselves, are we getting what we paid for?
Take for instance, NCAA Football ’12, which has many promising features, but those selling points are largely flawed with bugs and glitches. But, what happens if a series takes a year to work strictly on AI? ... Read More

Although much has been said on the topic with two sides bitterly fighting out, it’s time to finish it once and for all: Is NCAA Football ’12 out of the box, a success? In my mind, no. I have plenty of points, some of which, I have heard has happened and others that I’ve directly been affected by.
However, first we first need to understand why we come to these discussion boards, which is to debate about the games we play, not lecture, not banter, but to talk over with one another. ... Read More

While flipping through the pages of various gaming magazines and websites, I've recently noticed something rather disturbing, review scores hardly go below seven (or 70% whichever you prefer) nowadays.
Have games gotten to that point where even a really crappy series, like 2k's iteration (or abomination) of baseball deserve scores that hover around the high 60's, despite being absolutely unplayable? In yesteryear, if games were terrible or buggy at launch they paid for it in the ratings, ... Read More

As sports gaming becomes more and more realistic, we as the target audience, want our games to play out like the what we see on the ice, field, diamond or whatever your favorite game is played on or in. Developers slave for countless hours trying to figure out the fairest representation of our favorite game while still making it as fun as possible for us gamers.
Nevertheless, it's not until they decided to include sliders into did games become an unstoppable mess of countless testing ... Read More

As read from my new official blog:
"For the last few years EA has bombed on creating a realistic iteration of NCAA football. They instead rehashed terrible ideas while keeping good features on the cutting room floor. All sports game are complex to make and I'm grateful for even having the opportunity to use my Fighting Irish of Notre Dame every year to beat up on USC.
However, when promises are broken, good features subtracted, and nothing substantially new is added ... Read More

There comes a game every now and then that is so highly touted that you just shy away from learning anything about it. Not because you're sick of the media hype machine but because you don't want to be completely letdown about a title you've been secretly wanting to play. Red Dead Redemption (RDR) is that title for me and Rockstar did a spectacular job taking such a dying genre and breathing new life into it.
I remember when this title was first announced, I was a bit skeptical about ... Read More

Webster's Dictionary defines the word Legacy as:
"Law. a gift of property, esp. personal property, as money, by will; a bequest."
All I've heard the past few weeks is Colts quarterback Peyton Manning's legacy and how it would be tainted if he loses the Super Bowl. I have two questions about this: what and why?
Sure Tom Brady has three Super Bowl championships, Joe Montana has four, and Terry Bradshaw has four. These QBs will always be at the front of the ... Read More

I finally made the plunge, crossed the line, jumped ship, and saw the light...I was finally fed up with the problems plaguing Microsoft's golden child the Xbox 360 and made my way over to the big boys at Sony.
I'm absolutely in love with my PS3, free online (for now), better controller, and running 1080p with Assassin's Creed 2. This system is more user-friendly and to prove it I loaded up NHL 10 and said to myself, "I wonder if I could get some really good rosters for this game?" ... Read More

I have ESPN for as long as I can remember. I always found it refreshing to have a network fully devoted to sports, with anchors with sass and humor. The World Wide Leader have shows ranging from PTI, Baseball Tonight, Outside the Lines, and of course SportsCenter, but it seems ESPN has gotten too close to athletes to stay objective.
This might just be my opinion, but the WWL seem to converse with athletes outside of the reporting realm which makes covering them objectively null ... Read More

Hello,What a wild few weeks its been for sports with Tiger and Agent Zero's integrity stock going WAY down. Tiger has the wrong head guiding the way while Gilbert Arenas' not using his at all.
For Tiger, I don't feel bad for him because he has it all, maybe he's had to work for it but he went to Stanford, plays awesome golf, has a really attractive wife, a good-looking family, and oh yeah his estimated worth is $1 billion. I'm glad his sponsors are dropping him en ... Read More

It has been awhile since I last blogged on OS and I miss it. As expected, many newsworthy events have happened since my last entry and hopefully I can cover them over the next few days. Since Americans LOVE lists, I will throw a list up of events I am most interested in:
1.A-Roid, A-Fraud, A-“Iwasyoungandnaive” Steroid Scandal
2.MLB 2k9’s Getting Back to Basics?
3.Rebuilding the Madden Dynasty?
4.Putting EA’s NCAA College ... Read More

I'm about to go on a huge rant here, so please hide your children and your women, if you do not you'll run the risk of ruining the rest of their lives. This post will encompass the people in the booth or studio who need to shut up.First culprit, ESPN's Trey Wingo. Trey? Wingo? Your name is dumb AND you look dumb. I know 3rd grader talk, but have you heard this guy talk? Does anything good and genuine come out of his mouth? I have heard him talk and no he isn't good or genuine. ... Read More

Hello Readers,
It's been awhile since I wrote an entry not having the Hoyas as the subject. I'm afraid I might have forgotten how to do this, so please bear with me.
Today's subject is the art of taking time off from your favorite game. How many times have you listened to a CD for 5 weeks, but on that sixth week you can't take it anymore? Or maybe, you find something else that sixth week and you wistfully forget about the last 5 weeks of your life?
Well, ... Read More
