PERFECTION

DENVER, CO - Perfection. It is an enigmatic word, one that holds different meaning and significance for every person. For Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner, Tuesday night was perfect. It was a perfect game, for only the 24th time in the history of Major League Baseball. Despite facing a dangerous Colorado Rockies lineup featuring perennial all-stars Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez, as well as one of the league's hottest hitters in Wilin Rosario, Bumgarner looked dominant. His late breaking slider was completely unmatched by anyone the Rockies could throw at them. By the end, even the home fans at Coors Field were standing in applause.

Struggles at the plate continued for the Giants, only managing to push over three runs. A poorly timed dive by Rockies Center Fielder Charlie Blackmon led to an inside the park home run for Angel Pagan, and a couple singles were strung together in the fourth to plate two more. While the Rockies relievers were able to keep San Francisco in check, it was vain, as Bumgarner had the game on lockdown for all 27 outs.

With this win, and the series split with Miami, the Giants are now tied for second place in the NL West, 1 GB of the rival Los Angeles Dodgers. After this short 3 game jaunt in Denver, the Giants will be back home for a 3 game interleague series with the Twins.
