GIANT Play From New York "D"

The New York Giants looked as though they might be ran out of their own stadium against the Cowboys last night. What looked like a sure blow out, turned into a game of big plays.

Dallas won the opening toss and elected to kick. On first down Eli Manning tried to hit Hakeem Nicks on a curl, and Michael Jenkins made him pay. Jenkins sprinted 37 yards for the score, and with less then 2 minutes gone in the first quarter, America's Team had a 7-0 lead. Things didn't go any better on the Giants second series. New York with 3 and out, and the Cowboys got the ball on their own 20 yard line. 80 yards and one off tackle play later Felix Jones gave the Boys a 14-0 lead, and the Giants seemed in trouble. "Our offense isn't built for shootouts. My biggest concern is the players getting impatient, not staying with the game plan", said coach Tom Coughlin.

The second quarter started with what looked like the nail in the Giants coffin. Dallas drove the ball deep into New Yorks red zone with a chance to put the G-MEN in a 21-0 hole. On second and goal Jones ran off tackle and looked like he would score. "All I was trying to do was keep him out of the end zone. That was the last thing I expected" , said DB Corey Webster. Antrell Rolle picked up the Webster forced fumble and scampered 97 yards for New York's first score. "We dodged a bullet, but we knew we had to go right back on the field", said Justin Tuck. The turnover didn't seem to faze Tony Romo, or the Cowboys offense. They again drove down on their next drive into the Giants red zone. At the 14 yard line the Giants defense struck again. Romo was hit by Keith Bulluck and Pierre-Paul had a gift fall into his lap. "The ball fluttered in the air and all I could think was DON'T DROP IT". (Pierre-Paul) 86 yards and two turnovers later the score was tied at 14.

The Giants were able to force a punt with 2 minutes to play, and the offense finally helped the cause. Eli Manning hit Hakeem Nicks for a 54 yard touchdown pass with 54 seconds left in the half. Eli said, "An out route was called in the huddle. The corner was playing bump, and Nicks didn't break off the route. He kept running up the sideline and I threw it as hard as I could before the saftey could get over the top." That was the first sign of life from the Giants offense in the game. The Cowboys tried to keep pace with the ball in their hands, and 50 seconds left in the half. On the first snap Romo rolled to his right and was hit by Justin Tuck as he threw. "I was surprised we got pressure. We only rushed 3 and dropped 8, but he rolled right to me", said Justin Tuck. B. Johnson didn't mind, as he caught the errant ball and returned it 26 yards for the score, and the New Giants stadium errupted. Not to be discouraged the Cowboys got in field goal range, and Buehler kicked a 30 yarder as time expired in the half, with the score 28-17.

The game was silent for most of the third quarter with both teams trading punts, and interceptions.

The 4th quarter saw any hope of a comeback destroyed when B. Johnson intercepted his 2nd pass of the game, allowing the Giants to milk the clock, and add the final touches on the nights game with a 29 yard field goal from Jason Elam with 1:44 left in the game. Final score Giants 38 Cowboys 24.
