Justin Verlander struck out 8 in a complete game, 3 hit shutout. Both Alex Cobb and former Tiger Felix Doubront gave up 9 runs. Ryan Braun homered twice on a day where he went 4-6. Adam Jones went 5-6, doubling twice, homering, and scoring 4 times! Buster Posey went 2-6 in his Detroit debut. Brett Lawrie also had 5 RBI.

W: 5-1
With a lefty on the mound, you knew that the Tigers already had the advantage. Jerry Sands homered. Matt Cain pitched yet another complete game. Ben Zobrist went 3-4 in the losing effort, despite scoring his team's only run.

Pre-game tensions were high because Jim Leyland finally had to come face-to-face with his post-ASG comments about former player Jair Jurrjens (the Rays starter that day). Detroit's offense protected him. Miguel Cabrera went 3-4, scoring twice. Adam Jones and Brett Lawrie also went 3-4; both doubled twice.

W: 7-3
Early Tigers runs mattered, since late scoring by both sides cancelled out. Adam Wainwright was a winner in his Tigers debut, giving up only 1 run over 6 IP. Buster Posey hit his first homer as a Tiger. And, Miguel Cabrera hit his 40th HR of the season. He is on pace to break his personal best and now threatens the franchise record.
