The Tigers fired their A-affiliate manager and replaced him with former San Diego Padres manager Bud Black.

Black was fired after a slow start to what is now the 2013 season. In a division where it is becoming increasingly harder to get ahead, the Padres decided that Bud Black would not be of help in that endeavor.

Despite his desire to return to the Major League circuit as soon as possible, Black accepted the three year deal with the Class A Lakeland Flying Tigers. The organization hopes that a higher quality staff will eventually turn into an acceleration of potential for our prospects.

Black will inherit a sub-.500 team that is in striking distance of the co-division leaders.

In other news, the organization hopes to upgrade at hitting coach, pitching coach, and training. They expect to fill those positions by hiring those on the rebound, like Bud Black.
